This map is dated (from 2011) since Sweden is still green. |
| What exactly is this measuring? |
| Any place where there is even 1, is too much. |
|
Dark Green = Rape is virtually non existent (0/100,000 population reported).
Green = Rape is rare (1-10/100,000 population reported ). Yellow = Rape is common (11-30/100,000 population reported). Red = Rape regularly occurs (31-60/100,000 population reported). Dark Red = Rape is the norm (>60/100,000 population reported). |
Actual criminal complaints or self-reported via individual survey? If the former, these numbers are too low. |
I still can't read a map.
|
| Are these accurate? If so the people on this board won't like it since it's mostly african, middle east, central america have the highest rates. What a surprise. |
| I'm not surprised at all (and I'm a liberal). Also, I need to learn more geography. What is that little green country under china.... looking it up now |
Colonization was such a success!!!! |
Vietnam and Thailand. |
| Interesting how Germany is the lightest in Western Europe. |
|
Common denominators I see on this map:
Poverty, high population density. I'm keeping religion out, but you'd be blind not to see it. Don't flame me. Other notables: Green countries in Africa: Namibia and Tunesia. Yellow or light green: Gambia and Rwanda (really?!) Dark Red in the South Pacific: Solomon Islands Red in Europe: Serbia, Kosovo, Albania, and further north: Latvia (why?!) Red in the Americas and Caribbean: Jamaica, Haiti, Honduras Orange in the Americas: Mexico, El Salvador, Belize, Bolivia Dark Green Beacon of Asia: Bhutan Light Green in East Asia: Vietnam, Thailand, Philippines, South Korea, Japan, Papua New Guinea Red/Orange in Asia: Mongolia, everything South of Kazakhstan (which is green), everything south of China (yellow), except as mentioned above. No data from: South Sudan, North Korea |
Oh, you meant Bhutan! |
|
One other "no data" country: West Sahara.
OP, is this map very different from others, like from the WHO and such? |
|
International Rape Scale... aka IRS.
Coincidence? |
