For those of you who love movies, this was a great source of information and entertainment. |
That is sad! I always loved seeing the oddities on the boards.
"So and so is my cousin! ...well my third cousin, and I've never met him. I hear that he's a nice guy." "Do you think Melissa Rivers and Steven Tyler are the same person?" |
Noooooooooo! What's the rationale? The ones I frequent are relatively troll-free, but I guess my tastes are more obscure and I don't hang out on the current hot movie boards. |
oh dang, I didn't even know about these but I would have loved them. Darn, gone before I had a chance to check them out.
Is there an alternative? Certainly folks discussed where else they would be posting? |
Go on IMDB and read it, it is detailed. People are jumping onto Reddit (which I think is better anyway) as a replacement. The drawback is if you watch a movie that is very old and want opinions, you won't be able to read them. |
That sucks I used to love IMDBs message boards. Unfortunafely over the last few years the boards were taken over by trolls. Too bad imdb can't invest in decent moderators. |
Agreed. I bet one reason they're really ditching boards is that it's just too hard to moderate them in a timely way. I started going on a few of the boards (reading only, never posted) only a few months ago, and there were some nasty trolls on what would seem to be the most innocent boards (discussions of animated kids' movies, for instance-seriously!). Sometimes you'll see that a post has been pulled by moderators but a lot of nastiness is still on the boards. And more frustrating than posters who were just plain personally abusive to other posters were the ones who felt obliged to come up with as many ways as possible to bash movies, directors or actors they just didn't like, and coming on repeatedly to trash anyone who disagreed. I get why IMDB is getting rid of the boards. |
Yahoo should be next. |
