| Canal road was closed on Wed and this was why. A women found a violin case full of weapons and called police (thank you!!) and then a search turned up more guns and ammo. This really unsettles me. How many people jog/drive by there everyday. I heard the thought was innauguration but that seems too far from actual festivities. Seems like there could have been something to attack joggers or the bridge. Anyone else freaked out. |
| Not really freaked out - I was more bothered by Lee Malvo and the sniper. The guns are off the street now so I wouldn't worry too much. I do know that there are sketchy people who live/hang out in the woods down there. It could have been drug related? or a payment of sorts? Not sure. |
| A cache of guns in a violin case? Mobsters in DC? |
|
Any indication on what type of guns? I.e. high performance rifles? Handguns?
I doubt this has anything to do with attacking joggers. |
| I honestly do know --have google a few news reports and there seems to be little specific info other than the police found more guns and ammo than initally thought and I am wondering if they are keeping this quiet to try to find out more. I understand but still would like to know more. I go on that path daily--as do a lot of people and also drive around there. This was a place I wouldn't have thought was a target. I think it is good for people to keep there eyes open since the police cannot be everywhere |
| Don't know sorry typo |
| I doubt that area itself is a target. Sounds more like a staging area or something. |
|
I would think that they are stolen gun that have been used in murders. Usually they just get thrown in the river. I'm sure they will be tested to see if they were used in any unsolved murders.
They seem to be keeping this quite quiet. |
If there was more than one in a violin case, they will be small weapons. The others found could be larger though. |
| I'm not afraid of inanimate objects, so no, the fact that some weapons were hidden in public does not freak me out. I'm pretty sure they weren't hidden with the intent to specifically shoot me or anyone else I care about ... more likely to be some gangster vs. gangster stuff that doesn't affect me in the slightest. Sad and all, but not scary. |
|
I read a story about this Wednesday night. It freaked me out. The guns were hidden in at least two separate places, with "debris" piled around them. I assumed it was a staging area. But the idea of it being a drop point makes me feel better.
And it never would have dawned on me to open the violin case. I'm really thankful that woman did. |
|
I thought the woman did not open it - but called the police?
I wonder if she foiled something around 1/20? |
The guns weren't hidden with the intention of shooting you specifically. Only other people. That's not an empathetic worldview, PP. |
|
Gangster don't scare.
Possible terrorism scares me. I work at a national landmark. |
exactly! PP you are a really fucked up person |
