Thank you poster. I am not the infant teacher but when my children take naps I always sneak over so I can hold and play with the babies ![]() |
my dad has always kissed me on the lips. still does today. my DH thinks it's totally weird and gross. I just think it's natural, because that is what I know. it might be a cultural thing, too, as I have a hispanic background. I don't see anything wrong with it. I'll probably kiss DS on the lips when he's old enough to kiss me back! it's just a little peck. what's the big deal? |
So I was with a group of mommy friends and this topic came up a few weeks ago. I was the only one in the room that didn't kiss my kids on the lips. I was surprised. I grew up in an affectionate family, but lip-kissing was romantic kissing and all other snuggles, kisses, hugs were for all family. My 2 & 4 year old would like to kiss me on the lips and I've been hesitant to allow it. After hearing that all my friends thought there was nothing weird about it, I've stopped protesting. So I'm a convert! Of course, my 2 year denies me about half the time I ask for a kiss but I'll take them when he's giving them out. ![]() |
It's all about respecting boundaries as they develop, imho.
We kiss our dd on the lips. She is 2.5. When she is in a mood and doesn't want to be kissed (like when we leave the house or something), then we kiss her on the top of the head. If she becomes uncomfortable with being kissed on the lips as she gets older, we will respect that. We also co-sleep and bathe with her. No wine though ![]() |
To the daycare teacher that kisses the babies,f rom a mommy with 2 in daycare, THANK YOU for loving and caring about the kids you take care of. I would be worried if my kids teachers didn't kiss and hug them all the time!!!! |
There is absolutely nothing wrong with kissing your children on the lips! We do it all the time with my daughter (who is 2 y.o.)
Children need love and affection. And, as a PP mentioned, some people kiss their dogs on the lips, even with tongue. I think that is absolutely disgusting! But kissing your own child, there is nothing wrong! |
lets try and help other posters with other issues posted. Do what you want to with regards to kissing and drop it. TGIF! |
I kiss my DD on the lips and my mom kissed me on the lips (in fact, still does!). No communicable diseases have been swapped and we're all well adjusted people ![]() |
Dun dun dun... we share forks and spoons sometimes! Yikes! |
