Lee does not restrict access beyond a certain grade. If there are places available they are allocated by lottery. The charter board has to approve any increase in numbers. |
This is exactly what I said. And the reason the charter board has to approve the increase is to ensure that any increase does not violate the charter on which Lee was opened (and other things such as financials etc). Because if Lee did not limit admission to only a select number of students, it whole be like a traditional public neighborhood school. Take Maury for instance- it's numbers have ballooned over the past few years as people raise children in Capitol Hill. It would like to limit its numbers and reduce its class sizes- but it can't. |
Neighborhood DCPS schools must take anyone. That's not a theory. There are some specialized ones like CHML and Duke Ellington, but those are not neighborhood schools. These concepts have been explained to you several times. It seems that you're both unwilling and unable to understand at this point. Take a step back and calm down. You're very hostile. |
Or, it can be a positive experience that makes learning fun for all kids, and allows them to each work at their own level in a way that their traditional public school did not.
I think it's nice to talk about allowing infants to get a Montessori nest experience, in order to help them "overcome" their--wait, actually, I don't think that's nice. I think it's a little condescending to the families involved. The families you want to invest their children in your school. I'm sorry your experience with older kids hadn't been as good as ours. Any older children adapting to any new school is challenging. Adding cursive and a new math structure to that takes effort, but the payoff is good. I'm pretty sure every Montessori charters public school in DC has something about providing a Montessori environment to a diverse group of kids in its charter. (Or... Bylaws or whatever they call it at logan.) Why don't we celebrate that and make sure it is true. |
I tried to clean this thread up a bit, but it's just beyond what I have time to do now. I really don't understand why every Lee thread turns into a train wreck. It's really astonishing. But, because there is no reason to continue this argument, I'm going to lock the thread.
