The parents worked it out by routinely waking him up to use the bathroom for a while, until his brain got used to waking up from deep sleep to pee - he was fine ever since. Maybe worth a try

This is what we did. We walked our son to the bathroom every night around midnight. He was barely awake, and did not remember a thing. Then, after months and months, he started walking himself. He still never remembers doing it.

But definitely tell the pediatrician. They should check for medical conditions just in case.

My child takes DDAVP because her pituitary is injured and she lacks the hormone vasopressin. DDAVP is a hormone replacement for vasopressin. It is the drug of choice for "Diabetes Insipidus." Our endocrinologist said it works for bedwetters. It is used off label for bedwetters. Just for information, my child takes it twice a day and on it, only pees 4 or 5 times max a day. The DDAVP definitely lets her go hours and hours without peeing which is probably why it works for kids that would wet themselves sometimes during the night. She takes it throughout the day and has no side effects but she is missing the hormone which it replaces. The hormone BTW is what concentrates your pee (i.e., turns it yellow).
