I love watching people hate pimmit hills for the “cookie cutter houses” and then for the “mishmash of architectural styles”, all in the space of sixty seconds. |
I live in an original Pimmit Hills house (with a tiny 1980s addition). I love, love, love, love these houses, however ugly they may be, selling for 2 million. More, please. |
I don’t understand what compels someone to go for a house this big in a meh location over spending $2.4M on something maybe a bit smaller in a better location. |
They want a bigger house and that's where price/location works. Different people have different priorities. |
Instead of spending 3m in McLean, kids are going to private school. The 700k saved in house is allocated for school. Grandparents are living with you |
Ignore Great Schools in 2024. Their “grades” are now meaningless: https://www.dcurbanmom.com/jforum/posts/list/120/1150805.page |
This home is still better than the abomination that has been sitting for sale the last 6 months on the corner of Chain Bridge and Great Falls in McLean. Black/White McMansion sitting on one of the busiest intersections in McLean for over 2 million always had me scratching my head when I drove by. |
That house is pending also. |
This is a great location! |
The location is great. |
https://www.redfin.com/VA/McLean/1733-Chain-Bridge-Rd-22102/home/56840979 Can't believe it is under contract now. Who will buy it? No backyard, no privacy, maybe an embassy who wanted to be visible? |
+1 Terrible location. |
And, yet, will still apparently sell for more than any house in Pimmit Hills. |
Any house will sell. You just have to price it accordingly.
I have a $3M modern farm house next to me that was bought by some wealthy Asian couple. They are never home, the lights are always off. They might show up a few times a year for a few days. The house just sits there, but I’m sure they can sell it in 5 years and make 500K+ on it as an investment. |
McLean High School is a 6/10 too. https://www.greatschools.org/virginia/mclean/545-Mclean-High-School/ |
