Delaware Beach Ocean front upscale

If you just want a nice beach go to Assateague. The NP beach is as nice any beach in America IMO (although the water temp may or may not be to your liking).

North Pole maybe

What is the NP Beach?

Link to Bethany Beach webcam with a view of the “replenished” beach. Lol.

As someone who has spent countless years visiting all the local beaches, I can report that the beach in front of the Bethany Boardwalk will never be like it was when I was a kid. It’s a sliver and crazy crowded all summer long.

Have you actually been down there recently? I was there several months ago and saw it firsthand. The beach has been replenished.

If your issue is that the beach is crowded, maybe pony up for a beach house a few blocks away from the main street. If you’re rolling up to the public beach right in front of the bandstand and acting surprised that that’s the most crowded part, no one here can help you.

Bethany is yuck

Full of maga

My lovely home one block off beach I sold because of all the insane people

Rehoboth is so much better.

The rehoboth boardwalk is just as trashy as the OC boardwalk. The only difference is you occasionally see a preppy family from Kensington or Olney who looks out of place and a bit shell shocked by the tattooed masses.

LOL. OP here. I would be the shell shocked and out of place one. The first time I saw the beach (sand and water) at OC I was truly appalled and disgusted. I’ll leave the people part out of my comment and you can extrapolate my views based on the beach issues.

My fav spots are Seven Stars Turks and Caicos, 7 Mile Beach Grand Cayman and the Vineyard. Thus my concern about where I stay.

I’m no fan of OC, but what about the sand and water is appalling and disgusting?

If you don't know then you don't know. My initial response was it was dull, hilly, dirty looking sand and water. I was in my 20s maybe and I was appalled and that is all there is to it.

So this was multiple decades ago? There’s nothing remotely “hilly” about OC beaches. They are wide and flat.

This. The Ocean City beaches are WAY CLEANER than the Delaware beaches as they are further from New Jersey.
Ocean City beaches are wide and flat. Delaware beaches are narrow and crowded. New JErsey beaches are the dirtiest followed by Delaware beaches and Ocean City beaches are the cleanest given the distance from New Jersey and New York.

There is no need to build upscale hotels at DE/MD beaches. The demand far outweighs the supply. They can charge JW/Ritz prices without offering all the amenities and with far less customer expectations.

Plus staffing that type of property for a pretty short season is difficult.

It’s too late for OP but for others who use the info in this thread, isn’t there something about a difference in north OC versus south? Or am I thinking of Va Beach?

Try Cavalier VA Beach. Maybe more what you are looking for.

Yes and no.

The reality is they have built some newer, nicer hotels towards the boardwalk.

Hilton recently bought and renovated the dunes manor hotel (or whatever it was called). I bet it’s nice.

OC really isn’t as bad as people believe. The newer Hilton’s and marriotts are nice than anything you’ll find in rehoboth.
