I mean either you get good enough to be on a team that stays or you go play rec. Many girls and boys this age play for their high school teams or multiple sports in high school and parents lose interest in paying thousands of dollars to be on a bottom team where their kids have to attend practices over their high school teams. These aren’t the kids that are looking to be recruited. It’s very common starting in ninth grade for clubs not to Field bottom level teams. Field space is at a premium, kids not showing up for practice, having to find enough coaches, etc. . |
So for U11 and U12 this team VYS 2013 Red is - https://youthsoccergames.com/team/300091990 which is the same as MYS 2013 Green - https://youthsoccergames.com/team/300154211 Is that correct? |
That site shows a mixture of 1st team and 2nd team games. It looks like the ones listed as Regional League are the top team/ Phoenix. |
McLean Green is Vienna Phoenix
McLean White is Vienna Red McLean Gold is Vienna Black |
Not based on record 😂 |
No. This is part of the problem. 12 months ago (May of 2023), VYS 2013 red (then U10 and playing 7v7) was at the same level as MYS 2013 Green. At that point, 2013 Phoenix did not exist. In August of 2023, 2013 Phoenix was created (now U11 and playing 9v9) and was the new equivalent of 2013 MYS Green. Players were moved up from red to Phoenix. 2013 red became the 2013 2nd team, and is now the equivalent of 2013 MYS white. But all of the soccer ranking apps don’t know that. It takes time for the Phoenix team to rise in the rankings and red team to fall. |
It’ll be interesting now that MYS and VYS share the ecnl pathway (plus bryc) |
AND there have been a ton of MYS kids at VYS tryouts this year. |
What age groups? MYS seems stronger than VYS at least at the younger boys age groups. Can’t see why kids would want to come to VYS from MYS unless they are on a lower team at MYS and want to try to get on a higher one. |
Or maybe they load their U9-u10 green teams with 15-18 players and bench nearly half of them. |
Yes seems to be kids from lower teams but also kids on the green team who are suspecting they may not have a spot due to some ECNL players getting bumped down. Keeping options open. |
This is accurate. Having a kid at both, I think Vienna has stronger coaching and much better communication than McLean. I saw someone in an earlier post saying Vienna has more kids rostered and makes them compete for a spot each week, but this has not been the case for us. DD is on Phoenix. It was the case on McLean Green though. |
My kid is on MYS Green 2013. The roster is set. Unsure what you're referring to. Rosters are also set for White and Gold. However, White and Gold have guest players off and on. And VYS does not have a better coaches than DB (departing now) and CW. |
They’re talking about playing time. Yeah your kid may be on the roster but as you get older on the green team, you can be a very good player and not play because they’re playing the best 11 on the field. |
VYS competing for a roster spot each week at younger ages is so stupid |
