Did your only child want siblings?

Son is 7. When he was little, like 3 and 4, he frequently asked for a baby, but I think that was largely driven by the fact that it felt like every mom at daycare and in our neighborhood was pregnant. The little girl across the street asked my son "when is your mommy going to get a baby in her tummy?"

These days, he'll say how happy he is being an only. He knows he gets to do lots of things that we quite simply would not be able to do with a baby or toddler in tow. He's also aware he get a lot more attention from his parents than his cousins get from their parents.

Yes, my only asks for siblings, but I'm the eldest of 5 so I just tell him there are benefits to both situations and he seems satisfied with that response. He has a ton of friends he'll be fine.
