I do not want to have to defrost or brine the turkey. I want a 20 lb. bird that I can stuff & prepare with my own seasonings. I prefer organic and free-range. Where to get? I'm in Chevy Chase 20815. In the past, I was very underwhelmed by the turkey I ordered from Whole Foods. |
Our turkey from Wegmans was good. |
If I go to Costco for a turkey on Tuesday, will I be able to find a fresh 20-22 lb turkey? Or does Costco only sell frozen? Or will the size be a problem?

Wagshals--the butcher side on Mass ave. Order ahead and pick up. We've been getting our turkeys there for years. I also sometimes get heritage and/or organic turkeys delivered via Washingtons Green Grocer, but it's probably too late to order for this year.

I have no idea about next Tuesday availability. But I was in Costco last night, and they had fresh turkeys (Butterball) this size. They also had organic turkeys but none this big (most around 15-17 lbs.) |
Literally every store out there has defrosted turkeys right now, including organic. Call and ask if they have what you specifically want. |
I just ordered a ready to go in the oven 18 lb turkey (cleaned, brined, ready to go) from Black Salt.

I was going to suggest this as well. Just so you know, a Tirkey hsould brine fror three days. I prefer to dry brine my own but might try theirs. Wanted to pick up their rice side dish as well. |
