Got a biglaw offer, but the pay seems low

Anonymous
Third year associate. I got an offer from a biglaw firm called Wilson Elser (some call it WEMED), but was shocked at the low pay - $90k. They said it was a normal partner-track position. Anyone ever heard of a biglaw firm not paying "market" salary?

You've been practicing law for three years, and you thought posting this was a good idea?
Anonymous
I would never work in big-law for 90k. "Partner track" is still essentially "Never going to happen".

Good God. Go to website feedback and ask to delete this post asap.
And then, yes, don't take the job.

1 - ask jeff to delete this thread stat

2 - are they offering something else? potential for huge bonuses or similar?

3 - get this thread deleted before someone who knows someone at the firm sees it and rescinds your offer.

4 - delete this thread.

Wilson Elser pays way below market. It's not even close. Friend there got an offer as a mid level associate a few years back paying in the low 100s. Their pay is just terrible.

OP here. Why should I delete this? I'm not ashamed a biglaw firm made me an offer. Just don't understand why they didn't offer to pay me $210k - current market rate after the Cravath bump.

Whoa. You need to have Jeff take this down ASAP. This is a terrible terrible idea. At the very least, consider posting the Vault range rather than the name of the firm.

"Market rate" is only "market rate" for firms that choose to follow it. Since you apparently don't have the sense G-d gave a turnip, I'm surprised you command even that much.

OP, I would take the offer, it's clearly above YOUR market rate.

...because the market is glutted with 2009-2015 law school grads, and you didn't get an offer from Cravath or a Cravath-tier firm.

You're a moron, OP. Wilson Elser is not "biglaw" they are an insurance defense mill. The integrity of this profession is declining at a rapid clip.

See, I'm reluctant to leave my desk in case I miss an awesome burn before OP gets smart and has this deleted.
