Dr. McLaren?

Has anyone been able to find Dr. McLaren's new contact information? I am considering having an amnio and would really like him to do it. I've had no luck with my regular OB or his old office. Thanks!

Yes, I love him. I will NOT ever go to Dr. Katz at Virginia Hospital Center again! He was RUDE and really a piece of work! I have been seeing Dr. Tchabo for years and always went to Dr. Mclaren also! Love them both!! Highly recommend both of them!

I think you'll find that many doctor's offices have less than stellar staff but spectacular doctors. I went to Dr McLaren while I was pregnant with twins. The staff can be a bit brusque, but if you take the time to get to know them (and chances are you'll have plenty of time to do so, since many of his patients are there once every two weeks) they're wonderful.

If we boycotted every doctor's office in the area that someone here has had a problem with the staff, there wouldn't be any doctors left to go to.

Agree with the above pp. I had many, many visits with Dr. McLaren's office during my last pregnancy. They see a lot of patients because Dr. McLaren is very well respected by obstetricians. My OB does not send his patients to anyone other than Dr. McLaren. His staff has always been very nice even on the busiest days. I think most patients that complain about rude office staff are ones that usually start the issue. I also have to see my medical doctor often. I've seen patients show up late and expect to be seen right away. Then act out if they have to wait and complain in front of everyone. They have no regard for the other patients that are on time or for what it takes to run a medical office efficiently. These are the kind of patients that write things like the above and don't tell the whole truth. Although I do not condone rude staff behavior, most of the time it is the patient that is rude to begin with from what I witness. Blogs like that are not fair to all of the medical personnel who are dedicated to providing quality medical care while juggling demanding patients. I would find it hard to believe that Dr. McLaren's office staff was rude for no reason. I've just never seen it and have spent many days there during my very high-risk pregnancy.

Just had the worst possible experience at NVMM. We called to let them know we were running a few minutes behind and got an earful from Patti or Patty (not sure what her actual name is). She told us we'd have to re-schedule which we couldn't do and were only minutes away. She then told the doctor (Rodney A. Mclaren) who blasted my husband and confronted him about the call while my husband was holding our 18 month old. Completely rude and out of line.

They've been backed up everytime we've been there and are now taking it out on patients. Unbelievable and we didn't deserve any of it. Patti instigated the situation by telling me I'd have to wait a few hours or longer to be seen! I waited over an hour to be seen and saw people come and go. Anyways, by the time we left all seats were filled in the waiting room and people had to stand. They need to assess their capacity and policies otherwise they're gonna lose a whole bunch of patients.

I'll never go there again and will be asking for a written apology to my husband for the ordeal. Was rude enough to be spoken to like that but when Dr. Mclaren accused my husband of lying about the call with Patti it went too far. He lost my respect at that point. I would not recommend this place to my worst enemy.

Patients first, staff second. I saw staff coming in late all morning while we sat there. Don't blame expectant mothers for lack of office organization. Patti and Dr. Mclaren should take some etiquette classes.

Go elsewhere, trust me.

I witnessed it all this morning. The staff (Patti) and Doctor Mclaren were completely out of line. Worst thing I've seen in a while. They should be ashamed of themselves.

To blame the patients for their disorganization is bizarre. I felt horrible for this lady.

He misdiagnosed a very simple issue - mostly because he wasn't even listening to us or paying attention to the u/s. Horrible!

I went to Dr. Katz and liked him. He was never rude to me. He was actually very nice.
