I’m sorry but NYU was not what it is today 10 years ago. I’m not a NEU booster, but it’s not uncommon for schools to rise in prestige. |
Yes - NYU is another that rose from rags to riches |
What and where is Northeastern University? It sounds like the University of Phoenix or Southern New Hampshire University. Is it on-line or brick and mortar? |
Almost all schools started small and local. MIT was a trade school. |
It's like GMU. Oh wait, no it is not. |
This. At least y'all understand. I feel bad for the parent who keeps coming back to this post to get railed on. Nah, I really don't. |
Northeastern is actually better than NYU in almost all major metrics but no need to get into nitpicking arguments. Both schools are excellent urbsn school choices. |
One of my kids is in ND. Excellent school and my kid is doing great. However you have to give up location. Also sports is not important for many people and they prefer good location/urban environment. Northeastern is relatively very well balanced overall. |
There is actually only one school that has elite academics and football. Hint, they are the defending national champions, the Michigan Wolverines. Elite, well rounded school. Notre Dame hasn't been relevant in football in decades. If Duke or Vandy or Stanford could get their football together, they would join the esteemed instituition. |
**DP here. College sports is completely irrelevant for most people. IYKYK. |
Boston > Greenwich Village /Washington Square Park |
You're comparing a whole city to ten square blocks? |
I don't think the majority of students pick a school because it has a football team.
It is a nice feature, but I doubt that one kid was swayed to go to Stanford because they play P5 football (except for the recruited football players). Likewise, BU dropped football, that hasn't hurt the school. NYU doesn't play it. Northeastern doesn't play it. A school like Georgetown does quite fine with a low-level, academic football team. Same for Villanova. Of course, VT has an incredible football culture, but that isn't why students go there. |
Mine picked ND for football. It’s the whole experience and traditions. He didn’t even consider ivies because of the lack of football. He was very high stats too. |
Look it up yourself. You found this thread. You can do it! |
