Going this weekend. We're not planning to bring fancy clothes or anything, so not looking for a 3 star kind of place, just really good local food, preferably in an environment where wearing khakis is good enough. Thanks! |
The French Quarter Fest is going on this weekend so expect crowds. We're going as well for the Fest. Lots of well-known restaurants will have stands selling food around the various stages. It's a great way to try out various things.
A dive place that I like for local food in the quarter is Coops. In the Warehouse District I love Cochon Butcher for great sandwiches. Gotta try a muffuletta. |
Oh gosh, there are so many amazing places. Please give a neighborhood so I can help to narrow down the list. |

OP here - thanks all! We are going for French quarter fest too, staying in Treme, but arriving Thursday so have a night for dinner before the food stand gorging begins. I will check these out. Love the FQF! |
I have eaten here on two different trips to NOLA. Once for brunch and once for dinner. Both times it was INCREDIBLE!

Yes to this. |
Little tip on Couchon Butcher. If you sit at the bar you get full service and do not have to wait in line to order your sandwich and then try and find a table. |
