AAP appeal process - where to test

Anonymous
Hi, I wanted to check how/where to do the WISC test in case we decide to appeal (in case we are not accepted)? I just wanted to sort of prepare and know where to go as soon as we know the answer and decide to appeal. Just to have some plan of action in mind. I googled WISC, but it mainly sends me to the sites where the prep for it. I am looking for where to actually schedule and do the test?

Dr. Dahlgren Fairfax behind Denny's. She was great!

I've worked with different practitioners at Family First Psychological Services in Vienna and liked them all very much.

Op here, I thought one of the most recognized places is George Mason, or am I confusing with another test?

"Most recognized?" As long as the tester is licensed in VA, you can have it done anywhere. A test will be equally valid from Mason as it will be from another qualified source.

+1

Here are some testers, from the Congressional Schools of Virginia website:

Similar list from Flint Hill:

And another list from Saint Stephen's and Saint Agnes (click on "INDIVIDUAL TESTING"):

Op- thank you all. Is there wait time or I can call and have test done within a week or so?

Tester must be in VA? Can not use one in DC?

Need to use a licensed tester -- they can be located anywhere.

You will likely need to allow time for scheduling the appointment, then have the testing, and then allow time for the report to be written. Depending upon the tester, this process can take as little as three weeks, or as long as six weeks.

Lead time for an appointment depends on the schedule of the test provider you choose. Then there's a delay between testing and results. I'd guess it's usually about a 1 week turnaround for most testers. I would schedule the test now so you have the appointment on the calendar. You can always cancel it if you don't need to appeal.

This was not the experience of DCUM posters in past years. It seems "appeals season" causes longer times to get testing appointments as well as reports. Simply scores, of course, can be given the same day as the test. But the detailed narrative report is also needed.

Does anyone know is it WISC IV or WISC V that's needed for the appeal process?

If you are having it done now WISC V is what they want but they will still take a WISC-IV if you had it done in the past.
