desperate for compassionate GYN near Bethesda - painful intercourse, post-menopausal

Anonymous
Have been avoiding intercourse due to it being extremely painful. Tried all the OTC aids and started on Premarin about 6 months ago. No help. DH has been very understanding but I need to deal with this. I've got to find a compassionate female GYN who isn't fresh out of med school. TIA!

Must they take insurance?

Dr. Andrea Singer at Georgetown is fantastic.

A friend swears by olive oil. Her OBY/GYN trained daughter recommended it to her.

Nadine Flaherty at Women's Health Specialists in Rockville. She's a certified midwife practioner or something (not an MD) but she's great, as are the GYNs in that practice, though I rarely need them and stick with Nadine.

Not female, but Malcolm DeSouza in Spring Valley has been in my corner for about 15 years. I went through the wringer on a few things and I found him very supportive.

Dr. Andrew Goldstein is a specialist in painful intercourse. Not a female. Not in Bethesda, but not too far away at Washington Circle near Foggy Bottom metro. Didn't take any insurance when I used him. But he diagnosed and treated my not well known condition that was overlooked, misdiagnosed or minimized by several other Ob-Gyns. And he literally wrote the book on painful sex (called .... "When Sex Hurts"). I also found him to be excellent at explaining in a very clear way about my diagnosis and treatment.

That's who I came on to say, too. I haven't had your same issue, OP, but I was feeling emotionally overwhelmed when I saw Kleinerman and found her to be gentle and wise.

+ 1. I agree. His son (Adam) is now in the practice as well but just as great although obviously not as experienced. I'm sure you could request to see Robert when you make an appointment.
Great doctors, great small practice.

Clicked on the thread, because I need help too OP. One thing I am trying in the meantime is Coconut oil. Has helped more than the OTC stuff, as long as we both use it. Hope you find a great doc.

+1. He's good at handling stuff outside of normal. Not too aggressive in his treatment, kind. He talks to you in his office, not in the exam room!
