Will they ever get rid of the principal at Ritchie Park

Anonymous
Why will they not get rid of the principal of Ritchie Park? She ran out the amazing AP. She is running the school in the ground and the current AP doesn't do anything. Does mcps care?

Is this just about the VP, or did she do something else terrible this time?

Why would you think MCPS would do anything about the Principal? Test scores aren't horrible, and she's done nothing that's a fireable offense.

Most of the teachers there have been there a while, too.

I really don't think it's appropriate to use this forum to bash specific MCPS employees (except of course the superintendant-- where would we be if we could bash him?)

Not unless the parents actually DO SOMETHING. All they do is complain. They need to actually write letters to central office.

the new VP is horrible.

Let's get rid of the corrupt Ritchie Park PTA that went into the negatives and is now trying to use the even more corrupt Boosterthon as a way to make a bunch of money. Corporate sponsors, taking away class time, encouraging kids to sell, not telling the school half of their donations doesn't even go to the school. All of these are against the by-laws of the Maryland PTA but yet no one seems to complain about that.

I don't think the principal is horrible and I haven't gotten to know the VP enough to judge her.

I agree with this, and I don't like the principal.

This is a really classless thing to do, OP.

A specific example of what? The vp or the principal? And why are you swearing?

Completely disagree. People complain about MCPS employees all the time. I thought the rule was you just couldn't use the name. And the RP principal has been an issue on this board for years.

Careful, 00:33 - those are some pretty serious allegations, calling the PTA corrupt. Shame on you - you need to apologize.

People do not complain about identifiable employees "all the time"-- and the reason people don't use names is because that's how you identify individuals. And there's a big difference between saying "I don't love the principal" and calling for someone to lose their job, and if you can't tell the difference maybe you should avoid any personal comments.

I don't know the specifics of this school, but how many years was the AP there before they left? APs are usually assigned to a school for no more than 2 years. Then they move to a different school for a second 2 year stint, then they complete a year as a principal intern. It's almost unheard of for an AP to stay at an elementary school for more than 2 years.

I am a parent at RPES and wrote an email to the head of the MCCPTA about Boosterthon a few years ago - the response I got indicated they didn't think it was a problem. Perhaps if all the parents banded together it would have more of an effect?

"Encouraging kids to sell"? Because all the cookie dough, gift wrap, and other fundraisers don't encourage kids selling?

And yes, they all take 50%.
