BOE - who are people voting for?

Anonymous
37 pages on this thread so someone may have asked already...can you write in a name or three - one for D2,D4,At-large - on ballot for the BOE? I don't know what that's going to do other than take away votes from a likely winner which at this point no clue who that could be and feel blah to vote for any. thoughts? -NP

Here's a summary of positions based on a recent forum.

Not everyone participated as you can see. Evans and Harris are the incumbents for reference.

What a simplistic view of a complex school system!

Not even my top issues.

Laura Stewart's interview with Sunil Dasgupta was PAINFUL.

I don't think she's ready for the board.

And here's Shebra's interview with Sunil Dasgupta:

Write in on ballot for District 4. Write in your parent's name.

Anonymous wrote:It sort of boils down to 3 groups of choices (District 2,4, at-large):
1. Incumbents - Smondrowski, Evans, Harris
2. Apple ballot (teacher's union endorsed) - Zimerman, Stewart, Montoya
3. Rebels: Diaz, Mandel, Mofor

Sorry, couldn't come up with a better name for group 3, but they are all sort of consistent in wanting big change, SROs back in schools, and stuff like that.

So if you like how things are going, vote group 1.

If you like the teacher's union (keep in mind their 2022 apple ballot picks currently sit on the board, but aren't up for election this cycle), vote group 2.

If you think big changes are needed, vote group 3.

Mandel is not an acceptable candidate.

She is Moms4Liberty

In the video, Mandel says she wants to be the voice of homeschooling and private school parents on the board.

Good for her

She’s still unqualified
She’s a speaker at moms4 Liberty org

A book banner
Suing MCOS being funded by out side sources

And for goodness sakes look up her lovely interactions with cashiers. Posting her own videos harassing cashiers til they cry and they saying “maybe I should not have done that “

“Grand ma killer”
again her words. Who says that and puts it on social media?

There are plenty of other candidates.

No one belongs on a BOE who treats others the way she does.

I listened to Laura Stewart's interview and it is obvious she in out of her depth. She didn't answer one question concisely and was all over the place with nonsensical gibberish.

Yet.

Yes Hidayat called a spade a spade (finally someone willing to do that!). I appreciate his strong stance on accountability and safety. We need more of that!!

He is a bullying candidate who is ill-informed about the issues. A bully will not improve group function with the BOE. All he knows is that he wants to bring back SROs, because he used to be in law enforcement. The BOE is not a single-issue organization. Hidayat is a whack job who will not improve how the board operates.

He says he has talked with former SROs. Which ones? How many? I ask because there were some good SROs who really did interact with students and were trusted. But there were also SROs who were not trusted, in part because they were bullies and loudmouths who spent their days harassing kids and flirting with high school girls. Don’t believe me? Ask your kids.

Because she is?
Because she doesn't want males playing girls' sports like Stewart does?

Troll.
How so? What I said is true.

It’s simply because they have no defense so they simply name call. It just further discredits them.

Bethany Frankel, not winning votes in here.
Let get back to the insane, far-left policies Stewart supports.

I find her policies mainstream and kind. These far-right positions seem dated and meanspirited.

the far right are threatened by her

I know. I felt bad for her. She should probably stick to PTA-level advocacy work and leave the BOE stuff alone.

Whoa. Sunil did a good job of interrogating Shebra on who should be accountable for Beidleman and the investigation failures. Shebra's answers weren't great.

That's odd. I thought she did great. She's got my vote. I mean she's not mandel and not an incumbent that works for me.

I wish the YES/NO dug a little deeper. The questions were all softball. No questions about re-districting, busing, "equity" versus "equality".

Who are the most mainstream candidates who will focus on core education, financial accountability, and reducing central office bloat?

No incumbents please - they've already proven themselves ineffective and signed off on bad paper on many occasions. I'm looking for who will reduce systemic corruption and dishonesty.

Recommendations?
