Buy buy baby coupon exclusions

This is probably a silly question, but has anyone had success using a 20% coupon on a big ticket item of a brand that is supposedly "excluded"? If so, how did you do it? My sister was able to use a coupon at bed bath and beyond on a Vitamix, which is also supposedly excluded , but not at a local store. Got me wondering if she was just really lucky or if this is common?

I've never had any luck with it. Their checkout systems I think automatically exclude the coupons.

Yes. It just worked this weekend on our Stokke high chair. $66 off! It also worked on our vitamix.

It didn't work on our Uppa stroller.

FYI!!! there isn't anything that makes it not work when they scan the coupon. It is up to the cashier. If you get a "rule following" cashier who reads the fine print, then it won't work. If you just hand them the coupon and they scan it, it doesn't beep or buzz to stop it from working.

FWIW, when it worked (on our vitamix and Stokke), we checked out with "couldn't care less" teenage employees. The Uppa checkout was a manager. He actually had to manually input the coupon and it was big thing. It was more trouble to NOT apply the coupon.

The only way I know of to get a discount on excluded items is to put them on your registry. Then after your shower date you get a one-time completion discount with NO EXCLUSIONS.

This. However, be aware that you won't get the completion coupon until after your due date- if you want to use it on something like a car seat that you need ahead of time you'll need to jerry-rig your due date. It was kind of a pain- would have bought on Amazon instead (which gives you the discount before due date) had it been available there. Even though I didn't change the date until after my shower I ended up confusing people who bought gifts off the registry late.

Google Great Beginnings coupons and you should find an image of a coupon for 20% with no expiration date, and I think no exclusions. Since they honor competitor coupons, use that.

Is BBB really that great? I have literally found everything on my list cheaper elsewhere even accounting for their coupons. What am I missing?

Nothing. People just register there because it's easy. Pretty much everything on Amazon is cheaper and has prime.

Yup, I registered there because there's one in my hometown and I knew certain family members like brick and mortar stores over online shopping. However, I got most of the stuff we didn't get on Amazon instead. Except my car seat- the one I wanted was hard to find elsewhere and somehow more expensive on Amazon. But that was the exception.

Really? I had no idea they honored competitors coupons.

Another tip. A friend just reminded me that Toys-R-Us honors competitors coupons, so you can use those BBB 20% coupons at TRU. Since we get multiple coupons a month, we have like 35-40 of those BBB coupons that we keep and every time I go to BBB, I use like 12-15 of them. It was good to be reminded that I can use those coupons at TRU. Since my kids grew out of diapers, I don't go to TRU much anymore.

Agree that almost everything is cheaper at Amazon. However certain items like the Lullaby mattress is the same price at BBB and Amazon. I would imagine then that the mattress would be cheaper with the coupon.

They let me use it on my Uppa Baby Vista stroller
