I think booze is doing that- hence the functional alcoholic part of that somg

She is drinking because she is not happy without Matty. She is still stuck on him.

"Saying goodbye is death by a thousand cuts
Flashbacks waking me up
I get drunk, but it's not enough
'Cause the morning comes and you're not my baby"

OMG, not every word is about an ex. She plants seeds to get the young fans entertained.

Her fans didn’t like him and scared him off.

Seriously?! I figured it couldn't be that. She has enough money and clout to do what she wants, and hire a PR firm to rehab his image.

In her new single Taylor admits the effects of the miracle move-on drug were only temporary. So yah, it appears she is still hot for her musical muse.

By the way, I am not sure Travis has an idea of what's going on with these lyrics beyond a general, superficial level.

Or maybe ur reading too much into it.

She tried. Matty Healy trashed Ice Spice, so Taylor did a collab with Ice Spice to show that everyone was cool. Taylor was all in on making things work. Matty decided the relationship was not worth the media scrutiny that came along with it.

Miracle move on drugs are always temporary until you fall in the arms of a football player.

She an Travis make much more sense, starting with the fact that they are both from the Rust Belt.

Matty is dark & twisted, but also deep and intellectual. Taylor is smart too. Travis is not. It's hard going from deep to clown. Btdt. It doesn't work long term.

Actually it is exactly what works long term. He is normal. She needs normal or will end up like Elvis, MJ, Prince -- a train wreck. He is also smart. You cannot be in the NFL today in a skill position and not be smart. Her smarts are limited because of her real lack of education.

His humor will lift her up.

If he can handle all the attention then it will work out. I’m afraid it will end up like Aniston and Theroux. Theroux seemed enthralled with it in the beginning but then, supposedly, couldn’t handle it. Personally I think Theroux used Aniston to open more doors for him and once he got it, or thought he did, he dumped her. I don’t see Travis being that kind of person.

I don’t think he trashed ice spice - wasn’t it someone else?

Here’s a fairly good write up. Yes, the podcasters mocked her, and he didn’t stop them. His apology made it clear he was uncomfortable with the attention it received. https://www.rollingstone.com/music/music-news/the-1975-matty-healy-ice-spice-apology-1234721163/

Crappy Americana- Taylor labeled herself
Miss Americana and she is living that to the fullest- football, apple pie chugging liquor on the sly

Killing the planet with plastic bracelets and jet fuel all just for more “fun”
While on the inside she is crying in front of her fans and writes songs about the need to smile and perform for her fans who she hates
It is all wrapped up in the American ethos.

The dark side of over commercialization is mental health.

She's addicted the fame now.
She can't live without the fame.

Here’s my take. Taylor is emotionally stunted. She is happy with Travis because he does take her back to what she imagined high school would be like. He has the additional bonus of not being overwhelmed by her celebrity. It may actually work.

The album is *primarily* sad songs about things not working out with the one who had “haunted her so stunningly.”
Listen to the song Guilty as Sin to understand where her heart is.
She and Matty had pined for each other for a very long time.
There is one sad song, So Long, London about Joe. No songs about Travis on the main album.

loml and the black dog are joe as well. not to mention the entire reputation and lover albums and tracks on folklore, evermore and midnights.

the alchemy and so high school are travis. i feel like the alchemy sounds forced though and makes me question how long that relationship will last.

Honest question-is there a song that isn't about a guy?[/quote

Yes. "Marjorie" and "The Last Great American Dynasty" are two.

There's a thing called "Google."

Just some of the songs not about boyfriends

"ThanK you aIMee" about Kim K
"The Best Day" for her mom
"Marjorie" about her opera singer grandmother
"The Last Great American Dynasty" about the woman who owned her RI mansion
"Starlight" for Ethel Kennedy
"Welcome to New York" about moving to New York
"Blank Space" about the media
"Look What You Made Me Do" about what Kanye and Kim did
"You Need to Calm Down" about trolls, etc
"My Tears Ricochet" about Scott Borchetta taking her songs
"Anti-Hero" about her insecurities
"Bigger Than the Whole Sky" about loss/grief

Plus many others.
