No, it was stated in the search warrant released that this is an exterior door: "The door is broken near the lock and a shoe or boot print is visible on the exterior, suggesting forced entry."

That means the exterior of the door, not that it is an exterior door.

Is it possible the police didn't notice this broken door and boot print until recently (i highly doubt this, surely this would be one of the first things they did was check all the doors and windows for signs of a break in)? or were they keeping this information to themselves til now for some reason? this is so obvious it seems crazy that the killer(s) didn't try to cover it up somehow since they did seem to try to cover their tracks otherwise, why not try to cover up the bootprint which could be traced to the shoes (and thereby, to the killer) worn during the crime?

strange. this case just gets weirder and weirder and sadder and sadder.

That looks like an inside doo, not an exterior door. Look at the door knob.

Yes the door that was kicked in was a French door ..they are two doors with glass panes..and meet in the center with long handled door knobs This door has old paint..and no glass..the news said the glass was broken..also there is a molding on the right side of this photo..clearly a bedroom door of another crime scene notice the old knob..no way a entrance door of a mansion

If you look at the exterior photos of the house, this is very unlikely to be an exterior door photo.

Looks like a workman's /construction boot.

What were those construction signs outside the house by the garage? Masonry and carpentry company??

Where did you find this photo?? that is not a French set of doors but a bedroom door No way would police allow their crime scene photos to be online for anyone to grab..just saying

News4 also learned Wednesday that a set of French doors at the family's home was apparently kicked in, leading authorities to believe that the killer or killers used forced entry to gain access http://www.nbcwashington.com/news/local/Savopoulos-murders-search-warrants-cell-phone-records-306025611.html D.C. It is NOT a Entrance door there is wall board off to the right hand side..looks like wall paper too..and a old door knob without a key hole for a Mansion??? NO WAY!!! Bedroom door of another crime scene??? I can search images on google and find a foot print on a door like this photo was searched! This is a French Door https://www.google.com/search?q=french+doors&biw=1024&bih=620&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ei=ZZJvVcfXL8LnsATykYDwCQ&sqi=2&ved=0CAcQ_AUoAg#imgrc=EeaTfz0v7DpSjM%253A%3BBrGyVO8pxx6d0M%3Bhttp%253A%252F%252Ffrench-doors.net%252Fwp-content%252Fuploads%252Fhow-to-improve-the-energy-efficiency-of-french.jpeg%3Bhttp%253A%252F%252Ffrench-doors.net%252F%3B850%3B550

There is no way that is a doorway interior or exterior in a 5 million dollar mansion that has been renovated.

Maybe a door in the garage?

That's what I thought too but then immediately after that it says "suggesting forced entry"...why would it suggest forced entry if it was the exterior of the door but not an exterior door? Could just be poor reporting. I agree this door doesn't look like an exterior door, especially not one that would be found on this type of house but that is what is being reported so I'll go along with it until we learn differently. Perhaps it is a side door that goes down to a basement? or a door in the garage? Some door that doesn't look like you would expect an exterior door to look...

Maybe they were trying to draw out someone Who knew the family. Maybe they just wanted to keep the boot print quiet. Maybe they just misspoke. Who knows.

yep, that's what I think is going on...not just for this news about the door but for the majority of this case

I'm thinking maybe this door was actually kicked in after the crime when Wint was leaving the scene since the murdered housekeeper's husband didn't apparently see any broken windows/doors or anything amiss when he went looking for her Thurs morning and also since the killer likely wouldn't want to have such a visible sign of something being wrong present for 20 hours or however long they were in the house. Maybe he kicked in the door on his way out to make it look like a forced entry.

That boot print is not from Wint. The police already have his shoes. They are looking for [/bold] another person with boots. [/bold]

Well that narrows things down!

-----> I'm confused. Are all the search warrants old, like issued in the first few days, and we are just learning about them? Or are some of them new, just yesterday or today?

Were the car and panel truck from night Wint was apprehended, impounded at that point as evidence? Or did the others get to drive away in them when they were released?

-----> As far as French style doors, look at photos of house. There are several full-length French doors that function as windows. Where did that photo of door with boot print come from? It looks like a solid door -- maybe around back? In that vintage home, you often see French doors because when open they provided greater ventilation since the homes weren't originally air conditioned, but usually they had glass panes.

-----> I've always felt someone (HK?) was walking the dogs when perps entered the house or garage. They hid until HK came back. She more than likely left dogs in yard since its been said they loved being out -- lucky for Wint/ perps -- no confrontation with dogs. Wint/ perps took HK and PS hostage and had HK call Amy with a ruse to get her home.

Someone saw car come up the street very fast and it was left out front, which was not the norm. Sounds like a panicked mother to me. She enters the house and now Wint has three hostages. He has AS call SS, saying she has to go out, to get him home. And we know the rest. In that situation he couldn't get to gun, and martial arts wasn't going to be effective with the AS, PS, and HK hostage, probably with knives to their throats.

-----> I just hope the police get all of the perps. I think Wint is arrogant enough to think he's going to get off. He's gotten off pretty easy for his past crimes. He's not going to be too popular with the other prisoners, and that may scare him more than any death penalty. I bet they have him in solitary confinement right now for his safety.

This is a very interesting site. It is very helpful to read your posts and contribute -- helping me grieve and process something so horrific -- as many of you have said. It's a place to come in my sorrow and know you all are out there just as enraged, frustrated, sorrowful, and concerned.

Blessings to all of you. ?? God bless Abigail and Katarina.

Nope, we used to live in a similar house of the same era nearby and all of our basement doors had those same knobs with deadbolts about 6 inches above them. The actual knobs didn't lock, only the deadbolts did.
