...after a deadly crash early this morning.
School buses are delayed in the area and there are major traffic delays. |
|
WATCH FOR MOTORCYCLES!
A young person lost his life this morning; its critical that every driver NOT text or use the phone behind the wheel. |
How do you know it was phone or texting. Lots of motorcycles weave in/out and don't worry about cars. |
|
The crash involved what they believe to be a Metro Bus and motorcyclist.
Cyclist died. |
So awful
|
If a bus was involved with this fatality, does that justify your texting behind the wheel? A texting-caused accident with another car or SUV can be dangerous, but when a texter hits a motorcyclist or bicyclist, the result is often the death of the cyclist. Hang up and drive! |
Not a Metro Bus - a Ride On Bus. |
Are you the same one who was posting about white people and drugs on the thread about the AA couple murder/suicide? |

Something like 2/3's of motorcycle-car accidents are where the motorcycle is driving straight (with the green light) and the auto driver approaching from the opposite directions makes a left turn in front of the motorcyclist. The motorcyclist has no chance at all to stop or swerve.
The automobile driver nearly always says "I did not see the motorcyclist." What they really mean is that they were not paying close attention to the road - usually distracted by a coffee, kids, the radio, a phone, or simply stressed & in a rush - and now someone is dead due to their negligence. Drivers: please be hyper-aware when you're making a left turn. Motorcyclists are essentially sitting ducks. -Daily DCUM Motorcycle Commuter |

What is it about that spot that there are so many accidents?
Saw a motorcyclist on lying on the road once right about there a few years ago. |
| Where did it say texting was involved? |
Cyclists and motorists need to remember that you shouldn't pass in front of a bus or truck without seeing the front of it in your rearview mirror. If you can't see them, they can't see you. People pass too close in front of trucks and busses. You're more likely to survive if you're in a car vs. on a cycle. |
It didn't. The first post about texting was just speculation and a general admonition. I seriously, seriously doubt that a Ride-On bus driver was talking or texting behind the wheel. Although the bus did not have any passengers. |
My car has very bad blind spots. I'm not on my phone, in a rush, on the radio and my kid is chilling in the back. I simply cannot see out of the sides and part of the back windows due to the design of the car and car seats. You need to pay attention and be hyper-aware, especially if you are weaving in/out of traffic. And, yes, a new car with all the safety features would be great, but we cannot afford one right now. |
Excuse me, but you could have picked another one. I have a Toyota corolla and a Mazda 5, none of which are fancy, but with decent visibility. Visibility should be a priority to any car buyer. |
