When they closed Whittier Woods Elementary. I went there from 1964 to 1971. Oh, Miss Venisi and her wonderfule Este Lauder perfume!

I was a patrol there in 1970. My post was at the corner of Maiden Lane and Westfield Terrace.

Beach Boys on the Mall for 4th of July

Yes- we must be the same age or have sat right next to each other at these venues! They actually sold beer on the Mall for the 4th of July Beach Boys concerts.

I was there on the Mall on July 4, 1976 with my parents. It was all cool until about dark when it got packed just before dark for the fireworks and kids my age (16) showed up smoking pot left and right and one guy right next to us went to second base with his girlfriend right in front of us. So embarrassing.

They were winning, but the fans that were there stormed the field, and the umps called it a forfeit.

When the trashmen walked up to your house, emptied the cans into a burlap sack and carried it down to the street for you.

I carried the evening Star! I remember that you had to carry the paper up and put in in the storm door. None of this toss the paper from a moving car and get it somewhere on the propoerty. We paperboys bought the papers from the printer and sold them to the residents - we had to collect our money or not get paid.

Merrimac Pool! I wonder if it is still there. I wonder if the Workman daughter still looks so awesome in a bikini - wish I could remember her first name.
