I regret moving to Florida

People moving from DC to Florida shouldn’t delude themselves that anyone will care about their degrees, pedigree, cultured-ness, creativity or kindness. Relationship are transactional.

How is that different from our DMV area?

OP here. I thought Florida was great when I compared it to living in DC. Neither place is great for me personally. And Florida is no longer affordable. I can live comfortably in the Midwest. I can travel here if I want. Living here year round is not fun.

For us, we plan to rent short term during the cold months in DC. Do you feel that is acceptable?

In Florida currently
would never move here.
Unfortunately DD transfer work

We have been here for 3 days.
2 bicyclists hit by cars no helmets worn. Yes, in these cases they would have helped.
1 motorcyclist same.
3 whole trumpers on the beach, idiots one will need a new car LOL. One ran over their own Yetti cooler, costly but fun to watch.
Dogs left outside no water chained up
Food expired in Grocery store over a month Winn Dixie and Publix.

Unfortunately, we are staying a week... ugh.

Where exactly is this? I've been living in FL for over 3 years and never seen any of the above. I'm not high income either.

I've met some awesome people in Miami but they all were gym rats or getting tummy tucks in their 20s (crazy!!!).

Just not my scene at all.

Yeah weird. Florida’s a big state. You guys talk about it like it’s all the same.

Anonymous wrote:OP here. My Uboxes were packed and shipped back to my hometown this week. My lease is up tomorrow. I am moving out. I can't wait to escape Florida. I'm moving back to the Midwest. It's the only affordable place left in the U S. My entire extended family is there. They're excited about having me return.

I am looking forward to boating on a lake without seeing those alligator creatures.

I’m glad for you! Sounds like a good decision.

Anonymous wrote:Yeah, I found Florida very shallow also - shallow and ignorant. "So you're jewish - so you don't do a tree or anything?" "Wait, but do you celebrate Thanksgiving?" And I thought there were so many NY transplants - yet I seemed to meet every Floridian who'd somehow never met a jewish person. On my lunch breaks, women would show other women before and after pictures of their breast implant surgeries and nose surgeries.

What part of Florida were you in? Miami and most of south florida is like 15% Jewish so probably not there. But again Florida’s a big state. Making blanket statements about a state w 22 million people is asinine.

Kind of makes me wonder where exactly the dumb narrow minded people live, all indicators here point to DC area rather than Florida.

The bigger cities are better.

I’m generally pretty numb to the news but the stories about the women missing the abortion ban cut off are really getting to me today. It’s so cruel.

Sucks to be a woman in Florida.

According to Forbes hundreds of thousands of people, obviously many of them women, move to Florida everyday. Clearly many women are happy there. I could be wrong but I don't think most people make home location decisions based on where they can get an abortion easily. I am a Democrat and I am pretty unhappy with our idiot Florida governor and the crap he's doing but I am thankful his days as governor are numbered. Also glad the country saw through him easily when he ran for president. The 6 week abortion law could easily mean the end of him here.
