Anti-Indian sentiment on DCUM

Anonymous
From all the threads on Indians that are posted here, I get the impression that there is a strong anti-Indian sentiment on this board. Do you see this reflected in your day to day interactions? Is it the anonymity that brings out the haters here or is it just a small number of overactive posters.

Native Americans or people from India?

I think there are a lot of Indian-themed threads. I don't sense they are "anti-Indian" necessary...

People are usually threatened by groups of people that are getting larger. It's just fear.

That's also what happened to the Jews. Not saying the same would happen here, but just saying it seems like that's human nature.

I live in DC... not Arlington, not Bethesda (even though those people choose to say they live "in DC"). Not many Indians choose to live in the city, so I basically have no day to day interactions with them, although I do have interactions with other minorities. So basically, what I'm trying to say is I don't have any sentiment about Indians, whether good, bad, or indifferent. I don't notice it on DCUM either. I DO notice a very strong anti-African American sentiment here, though. I will say I do love Indian food. Yum.

I think Indians are the next intellectuals who will save our country from those who have been here for more than two generations. I am highly pro-Indian.

I'm guessing there must be a small minority of posters. I'm Indian, and so are many of my friends, and none of us are anything like what 14:16 describes. Of course, that's the trouble with stereotyping in the first place.

Suffice to say, I haven't had any problems in real life. The only place I've seen this sentiment in on this board.

No sentiment either way. Absolutely love Indian food, but don't have any Indian friends. The acquaintances I have that are Indian mostly hang with their family and extended families. They seem very tightly knit.

There seem to be a few Indian men on DCUM that like to start posts about wanting to date white women and whether women like Indian men. No idea what that's all about, but the amount of threads on this had died down recently.

Ummm don't you remember the video of Indian parents climbing a school wall to help their kids cheat on an exam? If you cheat like this in life, people will hate you regardless who you are and where are you from.

I just find them soooooooo annoying. I am white married to an Indian guy.

I have noticed that people post about the crimes against women in India. They're pretty terrible and should be discussed. I think a lot of human rights abuses happen in other countries. No harm in discussing them. Someone might decide to do something if it strikes a nerve.

I don't really know much about Indian people as a whole. I know quite a few people from India, but they don't have a lot of similarities beyond their food and skin color. I suspect a lot of people are unable to tell the difference between Indians and people from other middle eastern countries.

I don't like going to Indian owned convenience stores. The family usually runs them and they stare. No smile, no thank you, look at you like you're a thief.

Other than that, I have no interaction with them.

You must be new to the area. I live in Washington and my neighborhood has a lot of Indian people.

You've posted similar statements before. Every, single time I feel so sorry for your half Indian children who will face the same discrimination and prejudices from society and their own mother.
