So they told a prospective parent they had a location nailed down and would announce it the first week of school. So someone here must know something. Spill it!!

And thx!

Caveat: I know nothing, but I like gambling.

I'll put odds:

5-1: Bethune
10-1: Tree of Life
12-1: Doar
8-1: Non-DCPS or Charter Space in greater Brookland(ie, excess "Catholic" space
7-1: Shared space with Perry Street Prep
9-1: Imagine Hope
15-1: Potomac Lighthouse
20-1: Shining Stars/Sela space

I know nothing either (I started this thread, haha). But I'm looking at a map. What about Metropolitan Day school? They seemed to have moved out over the summer.

I like that idea. Easy walk to Turkey Thicket playspace and the metro.

Some of those would work very well for us!

12-1: Doar - not happening, less than 1/2 mile from current and they expressed 1-2 miles

9-1: Imagine Hope, not happening, less than 1/2 mile from current and they expressed 1-2 miles

I was just down by that Tree of Life space last week (visiting new pottery studio) - oh boy is it NOT convenient to get to.

Have read elsewhere that Metropolitan Day School (private Baptist school) in Brookland has definitely closed. If Lee cannot snap that space up, perhaps another charter will. But I bet developers will be all over that. Great condo potential though not currently zoned residential as far as I can tell.

I wonder where shining stars will end up, and if there will be some attempt to put the two schools in different geographic areas.

Do you know that all these schools are closing next year? There's something about the charter churn that makes me really uneasy--and as much as I would like to see my kid's scholarship in some of these locations, it seems problematic that would be happening at the expense of other kids.

Imagine Hope and Doar are not closing, not sure how they get involved in the conversation.

I always assumed the school would be moving not closing.

This. I think Imagines lease may be up in the next year or so. The only schools closing are tree of life (closed) and I know Potomac Lighthouse restructured last year.
