I'd like to send flowers to a friend in San Francisco. What's the best way to do that? Bonus if you can recommend a florist near West Portal.
(and, no, I don't want to wear them in my hair ) |
1800FLOWERS or ProFlowers. No one calls a florist direct anymore. |
But then you get crappy flowers for more money. Use yelp to find a well-regarded local florist and contact them directly. You'll get better flowers because their reputation is more on the line (for all they know you might be a repeat customer -- if you use a service, your next order will go to whomever the service sends it), and for less money (since you won't be paying the middle man). |
+1 you tell them what colors and how much. The flowers are usually much nicer. Some shops will text you a pic of the arrangement. |
OP here -- Yes, I also prefer to use local florists when I can. I'd love a recommendation if anyone can offer one -- I'm not a huge Yelp fan. |
I live in SF and use Lydia's Flowers in Embarcadero Four, all the time. I think it's $15 for delivery. Also, The French Tulip in Noe Valley is okay. They also have a $15 delivery fee. |
There is a florist right in West Portal. Just do a quick search and it should turn up. |
I would probably go with one of these three:
Petals A Flower Studio petalssf.com 365 West Portal Ave San Francisco, CA (415) 682-8590 Mystic Garden Florist amysticgarden.com 2626 Ocean Ave San Francisco, CA (415) 239-4300 A Flower Shop aflowershopsf.com |
We used a Bloom Gallery Flowers which recently opened in SF Mission Bay. Beautiful Flower shop!

If you don’t have a local option, try Urban Stems. They are fantastic. |
