The FBI managed to foil a terrorist plot to attack civilians in New York City. I'm surprised that it is not on constant loop on the cable news networks:
http://heavy.com/news/2015/05/robert-doggart-tennessee-congressional-candidate-islamberg-new-york-anti-muslim-islam-attack-arrest-court-documents-photos-charges-plea-patriot/ "A Tennessee man, who made a failed bid for Congress last year as an independent with extreme right wing beliefs, has admitted in federal court to planning an attack on a Muslim community in New York." [ snip ] “Our small group will soon be faced with the fight of our lives. We will offer those lives as collateral to prove our commitment to our God,” Doggart said in a Facebook post, according to court documents. “We shall be Warriors who will inflict horrible numbers of casualties upon the enemies of our Nation and World Peace.” Of course, having caught this terrorist the FBI promptly shipped him off to Gitmo, right? Wrong, they released him on bail. It's crazy that I have to rely on somewhat dodgy news sources to document this (the plea agreement is embedded in the article). Here is one mainstream source I found for the case: http://www.azcentral.com/story/news/nation/2015/05/16/former-congressional-candidate-planned-to-attack-new-york-mosque/27453961/ Can you imagine if the roles were reversed and this was a Muslim guy planning a similar attack on Christians? |
Another lone wolf. Good thing he was caught, or the reaction would have been, "So sad.." and "lack of available mental health services". |
Thanks for posting this. |
Here we go again, with the "lone wolf" nonsense - despite there being other similar patterns and plots over the past 10 years.
Yet if it were a Muslim who were plotting an attack we would be treating it completely differently. |
Isn't this Muslim group the same one that the FBI has been watching? From what I remember, the FBI found a cache of weapons in a storage locker years back. Are they still considered to have links to terrorist organizations?
I don't condone Doggart's actions, but I do understand his suspicions and anger, given atrocities occurring constantly worldwide. I think we are fools if we don't watch our own backs. |
Adding 'radical and 'terrorist' to the OP is superflous.
All christians are inherently both. After all, what's what most think about muslims. |
+1 |
I somehow missed this. What's even more infuriating is that he got released on bail and was advised to get psychiatric evaluations while many Muslims are currently being detained, sitting in jail indefinitely on conspiracy charges without bail. Yet, this guy is not being called a terrorist and not much discussion about the case anywhere |
Seriously, this again? My god, I'm sure the Bandidos and Cossacks in Texas are some of the biggest racists in the nation who hate Obama.
Does that mean that Republicans are expected to embrace them as our own? |
I believe the State Dept. has had an eye on this group for quite some time, due to terrorist ties back in Pakistan. |
No justification for mass murder. Do you make this type of excuse in other attempted terrorism cases? |
No more than you expect Muslims to embrace ISIS or Al Qaeda. |
Well not so much, but a denunciation of those that murder over one's freedom of speech wouldn't hurt your cause. |
SMH...
Further proof that "news" is not objective information about recent events or happenings. "News" is selective information for entertainment purposes. If the roles were reversed and this was a Muslim guy planning a similar attack on Christians it would be the lead story and front page material of every media outlet in the country. A Muslim extremist trying to tear some shit up here in the New York? "Oh hell yeah gimmie that news that's entertainment!!" But no, it was just some nutjob white guy who wanted to attack a Muslim community in New York. "Eh, who cares no need for anyone to report on it that's not entertainment." Damn shame. |
Thank you for posting this. The hypocrisy is astounding ![]() |
