Do I tip the guys delivering my treadmill

Anonymous
I am getting a treadmill delivered today. Shipping was included in the price - did not pay extra. It is a threshold delivery - they will drop it just inside the front door or garage. Am I supposed to tip him/them? thanks

I'd say no. It never occurred to me to tip those guys.

In gratuity situations such as this I don't think there is a strict rule of thumb when it comes to deliveries - people do whatever they feel is appropriate.

Ah--yeah! Wtf? Of course you do.

I would give them each $20 to put it where I wanted it in the house.

You already paid for shipping whether or not the seller tells you it is included in the price. The shipping costs the seller money, and they are going to pass that cost onto the purchaser. Also, the delivery person is presumably being paid, not doing you a favor. I don't think you need to tip.

I *THINK* we did - we had two guys from Lifetime dismantle and haul away our old behemoth and assemble our Landice right in my basement workout room.

All told, they took about 25 minutes - amazing - and even vacuumed the work area!

At the very least, offer them cold drinks and snacks to go. I do this for every contractor type person who comes into my home.

10:00 back to say $20 - 25 each? I usually am insistent and say, "really...for lunch today." and then I hand them cold Cokes or waters and breakfast bars.

Quick tip, good friends of mine were movers in high school. You'll get even better service if you tip them when they arrive...granted these are home movers, not delivers.

Not for a threshhold delivery.

This.

Exactly this

Hell yes you tip them.

No, why do they get a tip for doing their job?

Uh - why don't you just DIY if it is that easy and convenient for you? their job is physically demanding - not delivering tiny packages of tissue paper to your door.

Are you a hoverer? Will you decamp to where they are working and offer "helpful" suggestions and criticisms, too?

Ever been in a service position, OP?
