Where you heading in different directions or the same direction? If the former and if he got to the intersection first, he had the right of way and you should have yielded to him. If the latter, you have the right of way if you are ahead but nonetheless should check your mirrors to avoid killing someone with a left hook. Anyone who uses DC streets knows that the use of indicators is a rare thing these days and cyclists are frequently hooked by vehicles that they believe are heading straight due to the lack of any indication of a forthcoming turn. |
Hundreds? Is that you Sean Spicer? |
Where do you get this material? Killer stuff |
Love that bicyclists asked for the Idaho stop law and now they're like "yeah we're not going to obey that law either" |
Love at how clowns will grasp at any random anecdote they find on the internet to reinforce their stupid prejudices. |
When the Cleveland Park ANC decided to flip off a long time small business owner, it was over for the bike lanes. That woke up the other business owners. The mayor was right to listen to them. |
Lycra is our tradional clothing! |
They flipped off the sign, not the business or the owner. But keep going with your (false) narrative. the sign implies that one person's safety is less than another's Maybe stop looking at everything through your own lens and understand other people's perspectives. The Mayor is basically saying that if you are on a bike on Connecticut Avenue, that your safety and well being is unimportant. |
Such a pathetic attempt at spin. Surely their local ‘CP smart growth’ patron & puppet master can do better. |
When the commissioner said “F’ the ops” were they speaking to the sign too? |
Bicyclists: If there’s *anyone* else at an intersection, even a pedestrian standing on the sidewalk, you have to stop at the stop sign. That’s how Idaho stops work. You can only run stop signs at intersections where you’re the only one there. |
Almost, but not exactly. The passed amendment is here: https://lims.dccouncil.gov/downloads/LIMS/48835/Signed_Act/B24-0673-Signed_Act.pdf. The language pertaining to the Idaho Stop is on page 2 towards the bottom. Note that it says nothing about a complete stop, but simply that cyclists should yield the right of way to pedestrians and “other traffic lawfully using the intersection” (which presumably excludes any vehicle that is speeding or which executes a turn without signaling). |
The law also stipulates that the cyclist has no legal obligation to yield to any vehicle that has not come to a complete stop at the intersection. |
The city has spent a grand total of about 100mm on ALL bike and/or bike/pedestrian infrastructure and supporting apparatus, period. This include CaBi, bike lanes, trails, waba fees, etc. since the advent of moveDC. Your "billions" contains primarily the spending for AUTO resurfacing and refooting. |
That's a riot coming from the people who obstructed multiple government agencies for 3 years because of a bike lane! |
