I am pro choice and my au pair won't drive our kids

Anonymous
Due to the fact I have a pro choice sticker on the car. My DH says I should just take it off but I am not going to. I have contacted the au pair agency and they are at a loss as to what to do.

Anything I can do? I do not, and will not remove the sticker and this is our only car.

You need a different au pair. Why is the agency at a loss about that?

Fire the au pair and get a new one. That's ridiculous.

get a new au pair or take the sticker off you car. Or let her put something over it when she is driving. Or buy a new car. Or buy yourself a t-shirt and wear it proudly while you have this AP. Really, pick your battles. You aren't going to change her mind, and frankly, your sticker isn't likely changing anyone else's either.

just take the sticker off

Where did you find an au pair who would even care about this? Abortions are usually free in Europe.

Rematch....

Fire the AP over this and we'll read about it in front of the Supreme Court next year.

Well, that's a new one.

Tell the AP she either drives the car or goes into rematch. The end.

If she is a good au pair who takes good care of your kids, I would just take the sticker off while she is driving the car. A reliable caregiver is worth her weight in gold and I wouldn't want to lose her over a sticker.

Just take it off and stop being ridiculous. Driving your car with that sticker on it is essentially asking her to represent that stance, which she is uncomfortable with. Asking you to remove it affects you how? You should not force your employee to represent your political views.

How would you feel if your employer asked you to drive around in a company car with a pro-life sticker on it? Surely you can understand why she might be uncomfortable.

As a host mom, I actually disagree. She had her chance to screen families for all sorts of different beliefs. She doesn't get to basically go on strike because the family feels strongly about something. I also think if she's willing to die on this hill, you are in for trouble in the long run with her.

It's a polarizing issue, OP. Are you a Tea Party member? No? Then would you like to be seen driving a car with a Sarah Palin sticker on the back?

I would just take it off. People jump through bigger hoops than this for good childcare.

Is this the only issue you have with her? How long has she been with you?

Get a new aupair.

Period.

I would be livid.
