Any other ideas for a 5-year old birthday party other than renting a moon bounce (my husband thinks it's a great idea, but it's so boring!) |
What time of year? We had a pool party, which was a large inflatable pool and water toys. At that age I suggest not over-thinking it. If you can go outside, get some hula hoops, croquet, beach balls, whatever and just let the kids play. |
What theme does your child want?
I'm assuming this can be an outdoor party since you said moonbounce. We go totally old school with our parties - this year we did a themed scavanger hunt, pin the whatever on the themed picture, craft that matched the theme. Outside I would have done an egg race, water balloon toss, big game of red light green light, 2 legged race, potato sack race, that kind of thing. |
We hired Spider Man to come for a super hero training and invited all the guests to dress up like super heroes. Big hit. They have several other types of characters

Art Party.
If you have a fence, you can easily post up a huge roll of paper and have kids paint away. Or spread onto tables. You can also fill a baby pool with finger paint and have them do footprint painting. You can get each kid a dollar store bucket and let them add paint, stickers, gems, glitter, etc. Sticker table. Do-a-Dot table. Traditional coloring table. Sidewalk chalk. Face painting. Favors can be pack of crayons, stickers, etc. |
We have done "carnival theme" as a part of the moon bounce. We hired a HS student to face paint, purchased a snow cone machine. Set up a few carnival games
Reality - the kids wanted to do the moon bounce Nature party and the kids did a bug hunt. We went to the dollar store and purchased bug kits for the kids to collect bugs. We put plastic bugs all through the yard for the kids to find. Pirate party with a treasure hunt. |
Dress Up party is definitely fun.

OP here, thanks so much for the input. It'll be in early May, for girl. |

Any recommendation for the moon bounce rental company? |

We hired a magician for my 6 y/o's birthday party. It was a lot of fun for kids and adults. |
Can I please have the magician's contact? Thanks! |
If your yard has space, you could rent some farm animals. |
