We are thinking of enrolling our girl in I Westmoreland but have not seen any recent postings regarding the school (Particularly re their location at Circle). Any parents with recent experience with the school?
Thanks |
My daughter is currently there in the 3's program. This is her first year and although a tough transition she absolutely loves it and so do we. The site director is very involved and engaged and they all appear to show a real interest in the children. The teacher sends daily emails about their day as a class and a separate one for each child, often with pics. So I always feel like I know what's going on there. Just since August I've noticed an incredible positive difference inyndaighters interactions, she's much more confident and expressive. Of course I can only offer thoughts based on the past 7 months but it's been very positive. |
bump. Any recent reviews of Westmoreland Children's Center? How does it compare to other schools like Spring Valley Montessori and/or St Columbas? Thank you! |
Bump. Considering for my dh |
Have you taken a look at G/oddard School? |
NP but my experience was they are so secretive about rates that it seemed "off." I wasn'tt looking for a hard sell so we moved on. |
That wasn't my experience. Just call and ask what tuition rates are? They'll give it to you. |
There is constant spam and sock puppeting on behalf of Goddard School. I would not trust these folks with my dog, let alone a child. I have repeatedly attempted to stop their spam, even blocking the word "Goddard". In response, the spammers result to tricks such as "G/oddard School". |

Responding to the actual question by OP about Weetmoreland Children's Center, my daughter will be starting her third year in the program this year. Most of her classmates from her 2s class have moved up together, and that continuity has been nice.
Her teachers have really gotten to know each kid and his or her needs, and teacher turnover seems to be low. There is a good mix of free play and learning activities planned by the staff (usually with a certain theme for the week or month- dinosaurs, solar system, etc). I highly recommend the school (but can't compare it to any of the others you listed since I didn't tour those). Good luck! |
Jeff, many schools get free publicity on this site. You just have an issue with that school for whatever the reason. It's your site do what you want, but your premise doesn't hold water. |
I came to this board in earnest to post a positive review about the Goddard School in Bethesda as our daughter is nearing the end of her time there and will move on to summer camp and then Kindergarten in the fall. I am not sure why it angers the admin of this site so much that they appear to "sock puppet" when I think every school in DC engages in that behavior in DCUM, maybe they are just more elegant about it. I know for a fact that two well respected NW independent schools have members of their communications department troll the independent school board and post threads in support of their school and their decisions. Now all of that said, Goddard Bethesda has been a WONDERFUL place for our daughter. Yes, its pricey. But having had other children at the Sidwell and St Albans Childcare Centers over the last decade, as well as a stint at Westmoreland, I think that Goddard has been the best daycare/pre-school setting to date. The teachers are warm, kind and enthusiastic and the communication from the school is clear and consistent. They are organized and professional. Our daughter has thrived at the school this year and we would highly recommend it to anyone who is seeking a loving, nurturing and kind environment for young children. We are big fans of Goddard! |
