Menendez to be Indicted?

CNN is reporting that Senator Robert Menendez will be indicted by the DOJ on corruption charges.

This sounds as bad as the Bob McDonnell scandal. I hate to lose a seat as well, but if he's guilty we need to get rid of him.

Kudos to Holder for pursuing this even with so much at stake in the senate.

Christie doesn't appoint anybody. There will be a special election. They just did this when Lautenberg died while in office.

He did appoint Chiesa to the seat until the special. Chiefs decided not to run in the special. He will appoint again and NJ law isn't clear in if they need to have a special or not.

I stand corrected - had completely forgotten about Chiesa. I do think that if Christie appointed a Republican and then ordered a special election, on a Wednesday in October IIRC, that the law is perfectly clear that there needs to be a special election.

Menendez was just trying to help a friend; that's all. . . and all the friend did was give Menendez a lot of undisclosed gifts . . . wait, on second thought . . .
