This is an interesting article about how race affects college admissions:

| This is why I mark my 1/2 Asian kids as Mixed Race on any school form that asks about race! And they have names that don't identify them as Asian. |
| The college admission system is stacked against African Americans. The rest is just whining. |
Thought it was stacked against Asians and White men. |
Well, according to the article, African Americans get 230 points automatically added to their SAT scores and Hispanic students get 185 points added. I'm mixed race, but that seems ridiculous on many levels. First off, not every single AA child is disadvantaged and less intelligent. Maybe if they took SES into consideration, it would be more relevant. But strictly adding points for race seems off. |
I don't understand? They are mixed race. Why would you not mark them as mixed race? |
| worked for obama and it'll work for my kid |
I thought it was Asians and white women. |
+1 It is actually white WOMEN who have college cards stacked against them as there are significantly more of them applying these days. |
And you really shouldn't comment on something you know NOTHING about. Why make fool of yourself? |
Aren't white women the primary beneficiaries of affirmative action for jobs? |
No blacks are. |
Yes |
I have a DD who is half Asian and half white. So I guess she's screwed?! |
Not necessarily. She could probably get preferential treatment in the military or in joint apprenticeship trades programs. |
