Has NPR lost America’s trust?

Look at the number of comments in conservative forums about how women should never been given the right to vote or that they exist to have babies.

What kinds of forums? This is fascinating, I had no idea this was a popular opinion.

Then you are privileged enough to not pay attention as this isn't a new phenomenon, do you think Dobbs was out of the blue?

NP but why did you respond in such a snarky way to a straightforward question? And since when is it privileged to not spend time on forums about extreme views on women? If you actually want to help with these issues why not actually answer questions instead of being obnoxious?

These aren't mainstream opinions at all. It's like going to am incel forum somewhere and concluding all men think that way. Enjoy extrapolating outward from tiny samples and fringe online communities I guess.

You're just plugging your ears and raising your voice... which is basically our complaint about NPR. Plenty of us moderates who used to appreciate NPR no longer do.

Yes, the comments posted here reflect "mainstream opinions." Most of the posters here are not from "fringe online communities." Keep telling yourself that if that's what you want to believe. Meanwhile, NPR will continue to lose listeners (down from 60 million to 40 million- lots of fringe listeners!) and sponsors, and, maybe, its government funding.

Starting to think that PP must work at NPR.

And 99% of the screaming about NPR! the economy! schools! laptop! sports! are non-local, loud-mouthed MAGAs trying to stir the sheet before the election.

This is not true, but I suspect that the leadership and employees of NPR feel this way, which is why NPR has lost its way.

+1. I'm really lefty and I vote that way. NPR lost me and apparently others in this thread who are just like me. But keep telling yourself we're all MAGAs and there's no problem.

Yep. Just dismiss everyone who disagrees as MAGA/bots/whatever. I’m a card-carrying bleeding heart liberal, believe it or not, and NPR is no longer for me. If you like it, great! Keep listening! But you’re behaving like tinfoil weirdos when you can’t acknowledge that others might disagree.

You and your buddy misread my comment.

There are mostly Ds on DCUM, as the PP said, but there is definitely a small contingent of prolific MAGAs who are constantly starting threads to scream about various “issues”. Some are local but many aren’t. And, right on schedule, their hysterics build before big elections.

I’m sure you’ve both seen this.

I’m the first lefty pp of the two of us, and of course we’ve seen the MAGA press try to generate hysteria around various issues.

You’re still deliberately missing the point. I want unbiased news, and lots of it, and not lots of finger-wagging from any ideological side. I moved to another left-of-center media outlet that gives me that. When are you going to get your head out of the sand that NPR’s problems are not all created by Russian MAGA bots but are largely self-inflicted?

I never claimed any of that.

Just commenting on DCUM’s MAGA problem.

And some us R's comment on DCUM's progressive problem. You don't see how this works?

+2 although if pp is an npr employee s/he’s not doing them any favors. A better reporter would lose the defensive snark, the accusations, and actually listen to try to figure out why they’re losing audience.

This Saturday morning the in depth piece on Weekend Edition was the landscape of, I kid you not, gay black trans ice skaters.

It's like they're doubling down on their own lunacy.

I mean, how many gay black trans ice skaters can there be?

And if you're trans and gay didn't you really just do a full 180 and return to being straight?

NPR is indeed as extreme as the bizarre incel subculture, only it’s swung to the extreme left of both American politics and culture.

Aren’t gay Black trans ice skaters of crucial importance to everyone in America?

The N is for “national” after all.

Do you have a link to that story? I can't find it and, genuinely, a friend of mine is a trans ice skater who might want to hear it.

I didn’t find it either. Which means PP is a f**cking liar. Typical.

Not PP, but could it maybe be this interesting story about Robert Samuels?

And yet within moments two different people produced two equally asinine stories.

Stay woke, bro!
