NEW: Boston based ICE officers have arrested a Brazilian man wanted in Brazil for rape of a minor age 14 or under. The man was caught by Border Patrol crossing illegally into the U.S. in July 2021, near Otay Mesa, CA, and was released into the U.S. w/ ATD (alternatives to detention).
The man ended up in Massachusetts, and in June 2022, he was arrested in Framingham for assault and battery on a family or household member and intimidation of witnesses, jurors and persons furnishing information in connection with criminal proceedings, a felony.
Then, in July 2022, he was charged with multiple counts of threats to commit a crime and violation of a restraining or abuse prevention order.
He has been sought in Brazil for “rape of a vulnerable individual ”, since July 2023, and is facing a sentence of 20 years there if convicted.
On March 4th, a federal judge ordered him deported, and ICE just arrested him in Framingham.

So the guy was caught crossing the border (wait, I thought our borders were "open" and anyone could get through?!) and went the legal due process, then when deemed a threat was immediately found and deported, presumably because ICE was monitoring his whereabouts?

That sounds like literally the definition of a functioning, effective immigration system doing exactly what it is supposed to. Under Biden.

And you're trying to frame it as a bad thing why? Because we didn't chop his feet off and leave him to die in the desert when the Border Patrol found him the first time?

Good grief. He was let in by this administration, and after being here less than a year he was arrested for assault and battery on a family or household member and intimidation of witnesses, jurors and persons furnishing information in connection with criminal proceedings, a felony. Then, a month later he was charged with more crimes.
And, you consider this a good thing?
My goodness - you have low standards.

No. Democrats are not a monolith with one view on immigration held by all.

Stop with your RWNJ propaganda.

Name all the Democrat politicians you know of, who are demanding an end to the current Democrat Party Open Border Policy.

The border isn't open. We are still detaining and arresting people. Try again, this time be a bit more clear and a bit more honest and specific.

The above — The Border Isn’t Open — is the usual Democrat Party lie. Even Mayorkas uses it as a standard response. Utterly shocking how they all can say it with a straight face — as if they truly believe it.

If the border is open, how did law enforcement manage to apprehend and detain one of the FBI’s most wanted fugitives there? One of MS-13’s senior leadership?
https://www.courtwatch.news/p/exclusive-senior-ms-13-leader-arrested

If the border is closed, why are there so many illegal immigrants in the US?

Not every illegal immigrant came over the border, and not everyone coming over the border is an illegal immigrant.

The vast majority of those entering are coming in between border entries. Have you not seen the encounter numbers? These numbers do not include border entry gates. So, they are entering illegally.

Oh, and Joe is flying them in from Venezuela, Haiti, Cuba, and Nicaragua. Joe is abusing the parole law so these migrants aren't technically "illegal" since Joe has granted them legal status.

Based on their recent voting choices and implemented policies, Democrats have one goal:

To flood every neighborhood across America with unvetted foreigners from third world countries. Where, or how, they’ll live seems to be an afterthought.

WHY?

Why won’t Republicans pass legislation to fix some of these problems?

This proves Republicans aren't serious and don't actually see any urgency in solving the problem. They are doing their damnedest to keep border chaos the status quo by refusing to help with any of the legislation needed to fix it.

What a load of crap.
Republicans passed a stronger border bill before the Senate got involved. The Senate bill was crap and codified illegal entry and processing of illegals.

Biden is the problem here. Things will not improve until he and his administration are tossed in the dustbin of history.

When the GOP Controls the House, Senate and White House (like it did 2017-2019) it can adopt the House Bill. But in our system of government, when the Houses of Congress and Presidency are divided, negotiation and compromise come into play. The Senate bill reflects that comrpomise with the GOP getting 80% of what it wanted. That would be a "win" under any circumstance for a minority party. But no, THIS GOP, at the behest of a former president, has rejected that win. That tells most normal people watching this, that the GOP really doesn't take the issue seriously. If it were the crisis the right wants to make use believe, then solving the problem ASAP would be the goal. That the GOP rejected the solution tells us not to take their cries of tHe BoARdEr seriously.

Sorry you don't see it that way, but voters who have cast ballots since the GOP rejection, do. That doesn't bode well for the GOP in November, does it?

I don't know where in the hell you are pulling the 80% figure from - probably some talking heads who are trying to deflect from the disaster that Biden has wrought.

The Senate bill wouldn't have come close to "solving the problem ASAP."

The reality is - Biden has the tools NOW to solve the crisis. The same tools he rejected his first days in office.
He won't use them, because in doing so, he would have to admit that he was the cause of the crisis all along.
That is fact.

If Biden "has the tools now" then why did Republicans propose legislation? Not that their legislation actually accomplished anything... "Has the tools now" is a talking point that's undermined by the Republicans themselves.

Here is the truth that Biden does not want to admit.

NOT ONE LAW was changed re: immigration between the time Trump left and Biden took office.
The only thing that DID change was the plethora of executive orders Biden overturned that were in place and working. As a result, encounters and illegal entry immediately increased and has only gotten worse because people from all over the world have seen that Biden and his administration are feckless when it comes to the border.
The reason bills were put forward was to FORCE BIDEN'S HAND since he refuses to do it on his own.
Unfortunately, we will likely see a terrorist attack similar (if not worse) to what Russia suffered this week. And, it will be due to the lack of border enforcement. And, this will be the Biden legacy.

That is false. Not worth going on to the rest because you cannot accept a basic fact.

Most of Biden's EOs didn't have anything to do with the border but that doesn't stop Republicans from falsely throwing numbers around. Also, they ignore the fact that most of Trump's border policy went away because courts overturned it, because Title 42 provisions and authorizations expired, and so on.

https://www.federalregister.gov/documents/2021/01/25/2021-01768/revision-of-civil-immigration-enforcement-policies-and-priorities

https://www.federalregister.gov/documents/2021/02/05/2021-02563/restoring-faith-in-our-legal-immigration-systems-and-strengthening-integration-and-inclusion-efforts

https://www.federalregister.gov/documents/2021/02/05/2021-02561/creating-a-comprehensive-regional-framework-to-address-the-causes-of-migration-to-manage-migration

Plus all the previous executive orders he canceled.

The border problems are ALL on Biden.

That's 4 EOs. Republicans falsely claim Biden issued 90 EOs relating to the border which is simply not true. And, it's also a fact that the courts overturned a lot of Trump border policies along with many of Trump's border policies expiring due to no longer having Title 42 authority because the pandemic was lifted.

Why didn’t Trump build the wall? The big beautiful wall, like the Wall of Chy’nuh that he promised ?

Gosh, maybe because of this? -DP

"Biden signed more than a dozen executive actions Wednesday in the Oval Office just hours after arriving at the White House after having been sworn in as the 46th president, including measures to rejoin the Paris Agreement on climate change, repeal Trump's restrictions on travel from several Muslim-majority countries, stop construction of the Southern border wall and mandate the wearing of masks on federal property."

You actually think Democrats - you know, the same ones calling border detention facilities "concentration camps" - would have allowed him to do this?? Wow, how soon you forget. It took a border crisis, the likes of which we have never seen, to get the majority of Americans on board with DOING SOMETHING. Too bad it had to come to this, but you have only Biden to blame.

DP. This is utter BS. Trump was able to use Executive Orders to shape the border policies he wanted. Biden undid ALL of them upon taking office. He, too, could use EOs to crack down on the border, but he claims he "can't." The fact is, he is utterly cowed by the progressive wing of his party. We all know this, so you playing dumb is just not a good look.

“I wish there was a deal to be had that actually secured the border. But everything you're hearing right now that's going to be coming out of the Senate would start a baseline of 5,000 people coming illegally as being okay. I mean, look, it was Jeh Johnson, Barack Obama's own Homeland Security Secretary, who said 1,000 people coming across illegally is a crisis. Today, we have thousands coming across. President Biden could stop this on his own, Maria. You know it. President Biden knows it. He just chooses not to. He wants an open border. Secretary Mayorkas' job is to secure the homeland: He has failed miserably in that mission. He comes and testifies before Congress that the border is secure and everybody knows that's a lie.

“And so this impeachment is the next step. But ultimately, President Biden could solve this problem. We have a bill, H.R. 2, that we passed out of the House that would secure America's border. That's really where the conversation needs to start if you want to be serious about fixing the problem. And by the way, most Americans, most Democrat mayors across America want to solve this problem. It's Joe Biden who doesn't want to fix the problem at all.”

- Representative Steve Scalise, February 4, 2024

This is also false, and you believe anything coming from Steve Scalise, but not Senator Jim Lankford, who wrote the bill and said this was a lie.

DP. That was not false, and you have grossly mischaracterized what Jim Lankford said. Here are his actual words when asked about his reaction during the SOTU:

Lankford on his reaction during State of the Union address: "I was listening to the President and obviously as he was walking through and I could hear my colleagues around me saying none of that is true. I was actually listening to the President and thinking, no that part is actually true. It [the border bill] would have hired all of those additional agents, would have expedited the [asylum] process [to deport illegal border crossers], and would have also changed the asylum standard… The only way to be able to solve this problem right now, legally, is to be able to change the asylum standard… The problem is the President also left out some of the things he could do. Now he’s choosing not to do. He has a very open parole system that literally thousands of people a day are coming across and being rapidly paroled. He is not actually doing what’s called the last in first up for hearing to deter people from coming across by having faster hearings in the process. So there are multiple executive actions. For whatever reason, the President is choosing not to use, but there’s also legal authorities that need to be done as well."

And, you consider this a good thing?

Scalise is telling a lie. It DOES NOT "allow 5,000 a day to come in." It gives Border Patrol the POWER to SHUT DOWN the border if their ability to detain people hits the limit. That limit is 5,000.

DP. In what world should 5,000 encounters a DAY - or whatever you want to call it - be acceptable?? It is absolutely insane. No other country in the world would allow even a few hundred, much less 5,000.

DP. The border disaster we have had for the last four years has been entirely of Biden's making. Stop gaslighting.

In his first 100 days in office, Biden signed more than 60 executive actions, 24 of which are direct reversals of Trump’s policies.

Biden has defended the number as necessary to undo what he considers “bad policy” inherited from Trump, especially on immigration.

To date, 10 of his 12 actions on immigration are reversals of Trump’s policies.

“And I want to make it clear — there’s a lot of talk, with good reason, about the number of executive orders that I have signed — I’m not making new law; I’m eliminating bad policy,” Biden said as he signed a series of actions on immigration from the Oval Office on February 2. “What I’m doing is taking on the issues that — 99% of them — that the president, the last president of the United States, issued executive orders I felt were very counterproductive to our security, counterproductive to who we are as a country, particularly in the area of immigration.”

Plus all the previous executive orders he canceled.

The border problems are ALL on Biden.

Again have you not been paying attention over the last several years?, the courts overturned many of Trump's EOs because they weren't legal, were challenged and Trump's administration lost, and many of them expired when the pandemic declaration was lifted, which removed the temporary Title 42 authority. What makes you think Biden could simply do the same and repeat the same things that the courts already overturned? What makes you think Biden could use Title 42 authority when there's no longer a declared pandemic? Are you really so naïve and simplistic and uninformed to not understand how anything works? You only seen to know what equally uninformed - or dishonest - right wing pundits are telling you.
