To PP's who are worried about kimchi going bad, are you also afraid of eating pickles? I've never heard of anyone getting sick from bad kimchi, nor have I even heard of kimchi going bad...

Kimchi is fine to eat, whether you are pregnant or not. Be aware that many brands include salted shrimp in the ingredients, so if you are allergic or extremely risk averse, avoid that. The more expensive fancy kimchis also have raw oysters in the jar. I'd avoid that kind.

I’m in my 12th week, and as others may have experienced, the digestion rate I’m used to has slowed down. I’m half Korean and love kimchi, I have been making stew, adding bean sprouts, tofu, beef and Dasida beef bullion. And the result is not only delicious but it helps my digestive system out. I eat this once a week, and after researching health benefits online, I think if you can enjoy it go ahead and eat it. You can also make kimchi pancakes, and throw some oyster mushrooms and bean sprouts in the batter along with your kimchi and a little bit of dasida, and you have yourself a delicious lunch or snack.

Another Korean here. I think it's fine but I do know another ka couple where the husband had wife not eat it during pregnancy bc it has nitrates...as do many healthy veggies
