If you don't know then you don't know. My initial response was it was dull, hilly, dirty looking sand and water. I was in my 20s maybe and I was appalled and that is all there is to it. |
So this was multiple decades ago? There’s nothing remotely “hilly” about OC beaches. They are wide and flat. |
No need to get upset or uptight. You are having a very different experience than I am having. I am not saying you don't get me-although some of you don't. I don't expect everyone to understand and some of you clearly do! I am going to either stay at the Hilton OC or the Marriott Residence Inn. I am going alone, I am in the middle of divorce, I don't have the kids and I need a break from all of the day to day and the demands I am doing the best I can. I think we all are, aren't we? |
Cape Henlopen is not upscale and from the outside it looks like it’s in disrepair. |
Beach snob trying to stay local
That’s contradicting There’s no nice beaches here |
I read it. My friends stayed at the Henlopen in the last few years and said it was nice. Trying to help, but it seems like you’re going through a rough time. Hope you find what you’re looking for. |
I stayed here- I loved how it looked in pictures- but once inside it felt like an old building cheaply renovated |
Why don’t you just fly to the Vineyard for the weekend? I get the direct flight haven’t started yet but I feel like you could still fly there faster than driving to Ocean City. |
It doesn’t seem that way when you are looking at it - and listening to it - from the O.C. Hilton 12th floor balcony. |
Perfect response here. You are not going to find luxury where you are looking. It is just not that kind of place. |
The actual beach at OC is quite nice and I can’t think of anything on the Cape or even the Vineyard that offers beach front access in the same way.
If you just want a nice beach go to Assateague. The NP beach is as nice any beach in America IMO (although the water temp may or may not be to your liking). |
What is the NP Beach? |
Agree with this. The actual beach at OC is nice. I don’t love the crowds and some of the kitsch, but think the beach is fantastic. |
Depending on the street, it's also very uncrowded vs. the massive crowds at rehoboth. |
Assateague island national seashore (not technically a national park but close enough) There is also a state park beach which is the just further down same stretch of beach. |
