Some of it is a pathetic attempt to drawing a parallel with the patience the legal system shows from young, poor criminals who didn't already have every privilege on life before embarking on a reign of terror.

If you do not see the innate racism in your response, you may be beyond hope.

We need to turn an eye to automobile manufacturers. It is 2024 for Heaven’s sake. We have drones that can fly across the world without human input yet can’t solve the issue of pedestrian safety.

We need to hold automobile manufacturers accountable. They must be forced to improve safety features to prevent such tragedies otherwise be held accountable legally.

It's time we made drunk driving safe again!

No matter what happens to her in court, this woman needs to move. She injured 18 people in a town and they want her gone.

The drunk driver charged with the second-degree murder of two children appeared in court Tuesday with a cast on her right arm.

Marshella Chidester, 66, has been accused of second-degree murder. She allegedly drove her SUV into the wall of Swan Creek Boat Club where a child's birthday party was being held on Saturday.

Lana, eight, and Zayn, five, both died in the wreck in Berlin Township in Michigan, while their mother, Mariah Dodds and elder brother, Jayden, are fighting for their lives.

One child was reportedly pinned under the vehicle as it flew through the building, while the brother and sister who lost their lives were tragically pronounced dead at the scene.

Helicopters and ambulances took nine victims to nearby hospitals, who were listed as being in life-threatening condition.

Further victims were also taken to hospital in cars, Goodnough said.

Oh F this so hard.

Drunks don't have to drive. This awful human decided to use her vehicle as a weapon - she could have stayed home with her alcoholism. I'm so, so tired of people going soft on drunk drivers! It's 100% a choice!

In this case, they believe she hit a truck on the main road driving home from the bar, and took off towards the boat club to avoid being caught. She was speeding and flew through a speed bump that launched her car out of control into the space where the birthday party was going on.

This can’t be blamed on anything but the choices this woman made. She is a danger to society and deserves to be locked up for a long time.

Likely she was self-medicating for a condition or something which was not her fault at all.

Ridiculous.

My SIL, who has severe epilepsy, is regularly evaluated by her state to make sure she is still eligible to drive. She fully complies, even though bring without a license where she lives would be a real hardship. She would never want to risk hurting someone.

That's what a decent human being does. Driving is a privilege.

+1 She made a choice to drive drunk. And injured 18 people. And killed 2 kids. She doesn't get a pass on that and to make up medical excuses when if she were that impaired with seizures, she shouldn't have been driving in the first place (let alone mixing drugs and alcohol and driving). I hope they lock her up for a decade+.

What good would that do? I mean, it’s not going to bring the children back.

And it will cost the state rehabilitation services lots of $$ which could have gone to help the poor.

She should be made an example of to deter others. What was taken from her victims for absolutely no reason is incalculable. If she had any decency, she would plead guilty and accept her punishment. Clearly she does not.

Most plead guilty eventually. Going to trial is stupid. Her lawyer will evaluate all of the evidence as it comes in and then work out a deal that makes sense for both sides. As an elderly, first-time offender, she'll probably get a sentence that seems low, but that's how it goes. DUI manslaughter isn't punished as severely as it should be.

Really, OP. You don’t know the woman. You don’t know what her circumstances were / are.

Who are you to judge her?

100% agree. Could have been virtually any one of us here. The difference between that poor woman and me might only be 3 glasses of wine. No of us here are without fault.

Childish insults and vulgar language are the hallmarks of a weak or nonexistent argument.

You’re right. She deserves to be set free. Imma give her 5 drinks and set her GPS to your dining room at dinner time. Enjoy!

+1 Give her the birthday party date of your child and have her drive on over. You can give her all the sympathy you want.

I assume it’s trolling. Posters here get attacked for blocking a fire hydrant for 5 min or merging late in a zipper merge, so it seems like a simple task to decide where “drunk driving with a known seizure disorder” falls on the hierarchy of bad behaviors.

+1 It's a stupid troll. Why he/she wants to troll a tragedy, I don't know. There but for the grace of god go we all.
