Some posters want to diminish her success and the school by inventing criticisms despite the lack of credible documentation.

Isn’t it the opposite? To underscore how difficult it’s been with such an enormous number of kindergartners and she has rise the challenge? Which is basically what the article said.

No, it isn't. My kid is in K there. Their class size is in the low 20s. There are fewer K classes today than when my older child went through there a few years ago. I wouldn't rely on DCUM gossip but on more credible sources like the at-a-glance info.

It’s strange that you claim to have a kindergartner and yet are so unaware of the size of the class. Nor do you seem to have read the article.

+1. Dr Gadsden has been an amazing principal through some extremely challenging times.

True, when my older child was at TPES they had 10 kindergartens with 16-18 kids per class. My younger one had something like 22 kids in their class but there were only 8 K teachers.

The school is hoping to get class sizes back into the 22-24 range after was was (hopefully) an enrollment anomaly this year. It’s been a hard few years at TPES but they would have been much harder without Dr Gadsden’s leadership.

People always get crazy when talking about Takoma Park schools - I'm not sure why. Maybe because some people always want to disparage them and then others feel defensive. I've lived in Takoma Park for 15 years - my kids are in 7th and 9th grade (TPES, Piney Branch, TPMS and Blair) and I've never encountered the DCUM craziness in real life here in TP.

Congrats again to Dr. Gadsden - it's an honor well-deserved.
