It’s cool to say you went and people get into dressing up and taking photos for social media etc. From what I’ve heard about this festival it’s a bit less about the music than the overall vibe and fun/party atmosphere. Lots of celebrities and influencers.

Generally, people like live music for the energy the crowd brings, it can make the music feel somehow more exciting and exhilarating to hear

You could not pay me to go to this festival as a regular person. Maybe I would go as a celebrity with my own special tent and every amenity I could want

This. Why do people hate on what others like for enjoyment.

This article isn't really that accurate. Most people don't drive in and walk forever to get to the venue -- most camp or take a bus. It's not that dirty either; they cherry-picked the photos. And yes, it's hot, but when the sun goes down, the weather is almost perfect. Most people do partial days/nights. There is music from 10am to 2am every day, you have to pace yourself. And you have to be able to handle crowds and go with the flow.

Coachella weekend 2 bound, been going since year 1

I thought I was done and for the first time ever my 16 year old wants to go

Went to Lollapalooza back in the day + many other festivals. Festivals are what you make it - it’s a marathon, not a sprint.

I also have Guest/Backstage access so that changes the game…

I went 10 years ago with 30 classmates from business school and we all stayed at the same compound. Hung out in the pool most of the day and only bussed over around 5 so it wasn’t nearly as hot. It was definitely dusty so you bring bandanas but blowing your nose at the end of the night was so gross.. I have fond memories - yes it’s overpriced, super crowded, loud but it was really fun in my 20s! Sounds terrible now lol. But outdoor live music is so fun!

Same here! It was at Lake Fairfax!

Spend $11 for slice of pizza and $26 on onion rings

Wait 3 hours in lines for almost everything.

Roll around in dirt and dust and sweat all day until you're filthy. Repeat again the rest day.

Free parking if you wanna trek like 4 miles. Or pay $140+ for closer parking.

Everything about Coachella seems to blow. In fact, most music festivals seem to suck in general. The only reason I still know cochella exists is because anyone who goes make sure to tell as many people as possible that they're going, as of it is some flex to be kproud of.

A bunch of gullible idiots with too much money pay to see pretentious overrated greedy idiots.

And so celebrities can be photographed looking "cool."

I’ve been to a bunch of music festivals. I think Jazz Fest in New Orleans is my favorite. You don’t have to be young to enjoy it! And the food is fantastic!
