No. My kids watch so much YouTube, but I monitor it. My 4th grader says “Skibidi” everything but when I asked about the video / show he was not aware.
My kids mostly watch people building lego or playing Minecraft. I have them watch soccer and baseball drills on YouTube with me or exercises for their instruments and I think it skews the algorithm because my kids seem to get less crap in their suggested videos. |
LOL -parent of teens who knows there are 10,000 ways to access YouTube from a school device. My kids were watching YouTube from school long before they had access at home |
The teacher is offering extra recess. Reading comprehension, people. |
The entire concept is completely silly and stupid. I get it's going to obviously give many of younger kids their attention, but please, don't let them be glued to technological devices when they're like what, 6 years old? Let them live in a world without technology or limit their restrictions from technology at least! No wonder kids today are literally saying the most random slangs that they just made. |
You can’t be serious. This is like that episode of 3rd Rock where Dick put a stack of dollar bills on the restaurant table, told the waiter is was their potential maximum tip, and then removed a dollar every time a mistake was made. I guess he could say he wasn’t punishing the waiter as the cash was just an offer of extra money? |
My kids say skibidi toilet all the time but frankly I don't even want to know what it is. |
Reminds me of the horror over the Garbage Pail Kids of the 80s |
Isn't this thing just the same thing as how Gen Z was growing up with MLG and the Annoying Orange back then? |
I remember watching Ren and Stimpy on Nickelodeon back in the day. It had some stupid gross humor. There’s always going to be some version of this. |
I think comments like this completely miss the point. It’s not the toilet aspect or crass humor that bothers us. The whole vibe of the videos are completely psychopathic. That’s what I want my kid to avoid. |
I don't know what that is and, to my knowledge, neither do my kids. Thank god. |
And Beavis and Butthead |
Huh? It's a war between two factions, the toilet dudes vs. the camera dudes (and I think the speaker dudes show up at some point). It's a neverending conflict and continually escalates through the episodes. Ongoing violent conflict is kind of fundamental to a lot of media... Autobots vs. Decepticons in the Transformers, etc. The violence in skibidi becomes pretty graphic though after the first few episodes, which for me is why it is not young-kid-appropriate (just like Game of Thrones isn't appropriate, even if you left out all the sex). But "completely psychopathic" is a histrionic description of "graphically violent conflict". But it does also have a lot of humor, and some narrative arcs that are creatively communicated entirely without dialogue, and other redeeming qualities... just too graphically violent for young kids. |
What the heck is going on on youuu |
Yes.
The way she sings the song gets stuck in my head more than anything. When she finally showed me what it was I laughed - it’s effed up and don’t want that imagery in her 8 yo head. Ugh. Now I’m humming it again. |
