HS Graduation dates and locations

Wondering if other schools are also having to travel so far and if they are happy with locations. And curious if anyone has experienced a graduation at UMBC and what they thought of it.

RM had it last year there at June 12. I appreciated it being indoors and having plenty of space and parking. I didn't like that it was far, though, or that the previous HS took too long to get out such that ours was delayed.

Last year, ours was on June 12. The kids went to beach week the week before. They can figure it out.

Beach week is not an MCPS event. Why should they work around it?

I'm glad it's not. The kids would bake on the field with their cap and gown.

My kid's was in the football stadium in 2021 (Covid). It was ridiculously hot and sunny at 10am in early June. They all need to be inside.

Ours was in the stadium that same month but it was at 6 pm, and it was terrific. They had rain dates scheduled but we didn't need them. I hope they bring it back in the future.

They had something like that in 2020. We didn’t bother watching. I held our own graduation ceremony in our backyard. My younger son played the school song and graduation march on his saxophone.

Honestly it was my favorite ceremony. Fun, unique and easy.
