No. Gaskins (who is female, black, and a Democrat) actually answers her email and shows up to stuff. Aguire doesn’t do anything. Chapman is Alfred St Baptist’s seat. McPike was CoS for one of the least effective members of Congress and nothing has changed. All three would lose immediately where they live, because they don’t answer to the people, and can live off just existing. That’s what identity politics is, and why that’s all you’re ever going to get. Jackson and Bagely don’t have a natural coalition like those three, but would probably adapt to whatever corner of Alexandria they live. Assuming it’s not the same. Wilson would probably lose if he was only in a single district (Del Ray) but that’s not the proposition. Done gaslighting and race/identity baiting? |
Reviving this thread from 2023 as I’m thinking of moving to the area south of the Braddock metro. It feels completely safe during the day, but I haven’t spend much time there at night. If you live in that area, especially any single women, do you feel safe walking home from the metro or King street at night? |
I’ve lived there a long time and have personally never had any issues. I’m past the point of being out super late at night, but I feel ok walking home alone at 10 or 11pm. My kids walk to school. I mean, I don’t walk through the public housing, and if there’s a bunch of people loitering in a way that feels off I might cross the street, but I can count on one hand the number of times that’s happened in 15 years of living here.
There is violence sometimes, and it tends to come in waves when it happens so I understand why it freaks some people out. |
I lived there from 2018-2023 and always felt safe. Have common sense and avoid suspicious looking groups, but I never had any issues. It's a great area and super convenient. From the development happening there it's only getting better. |
Yes, generally. I have seen a few strange incidents near the post office on Wythe, but have never had any issues personally. |
A lady got shot while walking her dog over there last year. https://www.alxnow.com/2022/09/20/details-emerge-after-woman-shot-in-foot-in-braddock-area/
The Braddock area is where many of the repeat gang shootings have occurred the last few years. I encourage OP to look up the crime concentration on a heat map before making any decisions. |
I drove through a shooting over there on my way back from dinner on a Wednesday night about a month ago, at 8:30pm. Super fun. |
