Better Call Saul - spoilers

Did anyone watch the first two episodes (Sun. and Mon.). If so, what did you think? I definitely think it has Breaking Bad potential. I love Bob Odenkirk and think he's doing a great job being not only funny, but also very sad and introspective. He's giving the role of Saul lots of dimension that we didn't see in BB. I also love seeing the beginning of his descent into the criminal underworld, while still retaining his humanity. I actually kind of have a crush on him.

I LOVE It. and also seeing some other breaking bad characters too.

The first episode seemed very slow, I actually feel asleep right before it ended. I did DVR it so the last 20-minutes did prove to be interesting. Haven't seen the second episode yet, but have hope for the series.

I only saw the first and dvr the second. First was definitely slow, but OMG Tuco Salamanca was the dude who answered the door at the end, so it's probably going to break bad real soon!

+1

Has BB potential, for sure.

I saw how someone said on another thread they thought it was slow. I wonder if that PP watched Breaking Bad? I loved all of the little BB extras they were throwing in (Mike in the booth, Tuco, the salon the Saul tried to get Walt to buy instead of the car wash)

I also think it is going to be really, really good. That Gilligan guy is a freaking genius.

Can someone map out the Hamlin, Hamlin & McGill people for me like I'm a five year old? So Saul/Jimmy is (was?) a partner? And so is/was his brother(?), the actor I still think of as Lenny? Is he sick or just crazy? Do we know how long this has been going on? And why Saul/Jimmy left too?

I am not 100% but I think it was his brother who was a partner but is on "sabbatical" while he hides in his house avoiding electro-magnets or whatever his phobia is about leaving the house and allowing the outside world in... It seems Jimmy struck out on his own trying to follow in his brothers footsteps after having a troubled past

My problem was that all those "oooooh" moments were based on having watched Breaking Bad rather than making a first episode that had interest of its own.

I think you're right. Slippin' Jimmy (LOVE IT) was never a partner at the law firm, just his brother, Chuck (Lenny!). Chuck is mentally ill, not really sick, but convinced he has some kind of electromagnetic illness. Jimmy/Saul knows that Chuck will never be going back to work at the firm, so he's trying to get the firm to buy out Chuck's share ($17 mil.). I think Chuck has been on his "sabbatical" for a year or so.

I loved Jimmy/Saul's office/living space in the back of the nail salon. Priceless.

I liked that recognition and seeing how the writers very thoroughly researched each character's background, motivations, etc. They include all sorts of details and back stories which answer a lot of questions I had from BB.

I loved the first two episodes! Love how they're making it its own distinct world, not a replica of BB, but with echoes of BB. Completely different tone and pace. Vince Gilligan is brilliant to be able to do that.

Agree 100%

I am nerdy excited about where this show is going.

Thanks for answering some of my questions, PP's! There were a few things I found confusing about the first two episodes, though I saw every episode of BB. Loved how they're incorporating the characters from BB.

I have a sucky memory, so indulge me someone.
I recall Mike from BB telling Walt he needed a criminal lawyer, so along comes Saul. Great moment in the show.
But how did Mike come along?
