Overstock.com returns/customer service experiences?

I'm about to order some rugs and I know I need to see them in the room before I know if they'll work. Their return policies regarding anything other than electronics and jewelry seems awfully vague. Has anyone purchased and returned things from them before? Thank you.

I haven't returned household goods, but i know their return policy for clothes is stringent. I bought a trench coat once from overstock, and another style from another site. I wanted to see which one looked better. I returned the overstock one and they charged something like $25 off the purchase price because it showed "signs of wear" because apparently there was a long hair or two on it. Or maybe they only offered credit and not refund, if it had already been opened? I can't remember now the exact details, but i remember being peeved.

Wow. That's what I was afraid of - the vague "signs of wear". I have to put the rug on the floor to see if it works and these aren't cheap.

I returned an unopened slipcover that was marked final sale. They were great about it and even waived the return shipping.

That's funny, I was just looking this up today. You can return rugs for any reason, but the catch is that you have to pay for return shipping and rugs are HEAVY which means shipping will cost you a lot of money. If something is wrong with the rug or it's their mistake - like they send you the wrong rug or size, the rug is completely different from the description (e.g. you get a red rug when the description said pink), then they will pay for shipping.

Overstock might not be the right place for you to buy rugs.

The shipping fees will be expensive if you need to return rugs.

I have bought and returned rigs to overstock 2or 3 times. If I remember correctly, you have a choice- return and pay the shipping, or return and receive store credit for the full amount of the item. I picked the store credit and eventually found a rug I wanted from there.

Me again, I did unwrap the rigs to see them in the room. I kept the thick plastic they were rolled in, and just rolled them back up and taped it well, then drooped them at the ups store by my house to return.

Thank you so much for helping. I think I should look around locally first.

I bought two rugs from overstock and they were both disappointingly ugly, fwiw.

I've returned a couple rugs to overstock and haven't been charged. I've always been happy with their service.

Can I ask what kind? I was looking at the "one of a kind" rugs. The Persian and antique rugs seem to photograph darker so I've already had to return one elsewhere. What looked perfect online was way too bright in person.

Oh, mine were cheapo area rugs. The color on both was very unlinle how they appeared on screen.
