Embarrassing - 4-5 days past 5 day transfer

Anonymous
I had an orgasm in my sleep last night and am freaking out because the Shady Grove nurse gave me written instructions not to have an orgasm for a week or so after my transfer. I am so worried now!!!! It kind of hurt after it stopped too. I'm freaking out thinking I hurt my chances. Anyone else experience this?

This is actually very common in early pregnancy, so my guess is that this cycle worked. There's nothing you can do about it, so no sense in worrying about it. But do check back in a few days when you know what the outcome is!

Thank you for your response!!! I sure hope you are right because I'm not really having any other symptoms!!! I will definitely check back and update you. I am the poster who started the "sucessful IVF over 40" thread.

Good! I wouldn't worry either.....I've been having orgasms all the time in my sleep. It's the greatest pregnancy side effect ever. Good luck! I think you'll be fine.

Umm.... so I also had an orgasm in my sleep post ET. I'm heartened by the fact that others think this may be due to early pregnancy, but isn't it true that the estrogen and progesterone you are on post transfter also mimics the signs of early pregnancy?

I had several orgasm's during the 2ww and in the first few weeks of pregnancy, and I panicked that it would shake the embies loose, but the sweet dreams did not interfere with anything, well except for my DH's sleep. He was probably wondering if I was fantasizing about him or George Clooney!

OMG -- this is hilarious!! I just had my first transfer yesterday and was horrified to see on the instruction sheet that it said no sex and no orgasms until the blood test and then until the 12 week mark if I'm pregnant. YIKES!!!!

I asked the nurse about it, and she laughed and said that while it's a bummer, I may get lucky in my sleep. She said it's surprisingly common and not a problem. Fingers crossed!

Based on what I've seen on other message boards, this does happen just because of the progesterone. But I'm glad for you that it happened due to a BFP!

FWIW, I've been pregnant several times, through one full-term pregnancy, and on progesterone support for 7 cycles, and it has never happened to me.

I was preparing for my transfer, so I was a little preoccupied. But I think the nurse said something about everything being really sensitive inside because of the progesterone suppositories, to the point where you might bleed. (By the way, I think the progesterone suppositories also continue to 12 weeks. True? Ugh.)

It may also have something to do with concern about infection. The sheet said no swimming or hot tubs, either.
