How soon did you start showing with #2??

I am only 5 weeks pregnant with #2 and am already starting to show a bit! Is this normal? I heard that you show sooner, but this seems ridiculous??? I was at dinner last night and wasy DYING my pants were so tight.

By 9 weeks with #2 I was clearly PG in regular, non-fitted street clothes -- had to disguise (to the extent I could) with big shirts and such. Seems like my abs have no fight left, they're just stretching away.

I started showing with my second around 6 weeks, but then I also showed early with my first (around 10 weeks) I guess I just have a weird body shape where the baby has nowhere to go but out. With my second, I tried so hard to hide the pregnancy but I had strangers coming up to me around the 8 week mark and saying I was "such a cute pregnant woman"

Does this mean you also started gaining earlier? I'm just 4 weeks, but wondering what to expect this time around.

I'm almost 11 wks w/#2, and just starting to be unable to "suck it in" or use control top. However, I lost weight for the first 10 weeks because I was so sick.

I don't think weight gain should be any different, but most people say they show earlier with #2.

I'm interested if any of you who started showing sooner with #2 did a lot of ab work in between? I'm wondering how much of it is just inevitable and how much can be "controlled."

I didn't show with my first until almost 6 months and pretty much the same with the second. If I was wearing tighter clothing you could tell but I remember both times being well into the second trimester before needing any maternity clothes. I am currently 17 weeks with #3 and I feel like a cow. I have only gained 5 pounds so far but wow, I popped around 3 months this time around. I did not do specific ab work but I do run/walk daily.

13 weeks pregnant with number 2 and the stomach muscles are not holding up. I haven't told anyone yet that I am pregnant so I think everyone thinks I'm getting fat. For me it's not so much my lower stomach but my upper abs have this nice roundness to them. The worst is that I have gotten wide. It's like my pelvis is splitting apart. Has anyone experienced that? Of course it's natural to compare to the first pregnancy and I can't really remember when I started wearing maternity clothes but I think it was around 20 weeks.

I hate being in this horrible in between stage where nothing fits but I'm not ready for maternity wear. Getting dressed is so depressing. No, I have not been very good about doing ab work. I did post partum pilates early on which I think helped but then I got lazy, lazy, lazy.

Your post makes me feel better that I am not alone!

this gives me such comfort.. i'm about 6 weeks and can't fit into some of my clothes.. i was pretty petite to begin with though. it's killing me b/c i do not want to tell people yet -- i miscarried twice before i had DS so would like to wait as long as possible before "confirming" this pregnancy. i go next week for my first sono -- i'm thinking if all is well there, maybe i will be a little less uptight about trying to hide this ever expanding tummy.

It's winter. Sweaters, loose layers, etc. should help. Let them all think you overate over the holidays!

I'm with the others - about 2 seconds after conception, I think.

Every pregnancy is different and every body is different, but FWIW, I gained a tremendous amount early on (8 lbs in the first 12 weeks), but then slowed down to reasonable clip and slowed way down at the end and ended up right at 30 lbs. I delivered an 8.25 lb baby. Just wanted to mention that in case you start gaining a lot early too. It's not necessarily going to be a straight line of incremental growth! Good luck to you!

I'm 14-weeks with #2 and have gained 8 pounds already...but 6 pounds of that are on my boobs! They've gotten HUGE. Very full. My stomach isn't that big. I'm still fitting into my jeans. With my #1, I gained a lot only after I told everyone and my boss that I was pregnant at 5 months. Then, something in my brain got relief and I started eating a lot....and gained most of the weight during the 3rd Trimester.
